Halloween night, ten years old, first R-rated movie with mom.
After a long night of trick or treating my mom bestowed the classic upon me. I remember seeing the black clamshell VHS in the case all those years. Tonight, she broke it out.
Scared the hell out of me and ignited a lifelong fascination with that white mask and ghostly shape.
I wonder if anyone will remember this but back in the mid 2000s AMC would do this thing called “DVDonTV” where they would play a movie in widescreen with trivia in the bottom corner of the screen as the movie played. This was how I was exposed to both Friday the 13th and Halloween. I remember recording both of them (though they were a year or two apart if my memory is correct) and so I experienced Halloween on TVfor the first time with trivia and widescreen which was really cool. After that I don’t recall what I saw next. I know I recorded Halloween II on SciFi and it was the TV cut but either I or my cousin over-recorded that until I got to see Halloween 4 and 5 after.
