2018 Mask Size and James Jude Courtney Head.

Hey Guys, so I know the 2018 mask is a very small mask and isn’t suited for big heads. But I heard a rumor that the hero mask was tight even on James Jude Courtney due to some latex shrinkage. Is that true or am I hearing things?

James Jude courtney has a small head as it is. Actually him and I have a very similar body and head height build . And the mask is tight on my face. The rumour has a high chance of being true imo

I believe in the newer trilogy films of the Halloween franchise the ‘masks’ were not necessarily masks in most of the scenes shot and to always appear to have that classic Michael Myers blank expression the creative team used prosthetics they came up with this development. It also made the mask and the actors ‘one’ so that the piece didn’t flounder around during stunts and production. They pieced it together and glued it onto the actor’s head & face to appear like a traditional over-the-head mask as it’s being worn, and cleaned the rest up with CGI. That is why if you notice the material itself never moves in the fashion it did in the earlier films that used an old-fashioned Halloween mask(s).

Where on earth did you get this information? There are clear shots of an over the head full latex masks all over the internet, people (including myself) have seen the one piece over the head latex mask in person. Of all the stories I’ve ever heard about the production of the Halloween movies, the suggestion that the mask was cut into pieces and was glued to the actor’s face is definitely the most bizarre. Would love to hear more about where you got this information.

you’re correct, there was padding in it and I assume its so the mask fit to allow shadows to be casted a little better over the eyes, and during a live episode of The Thing With Two Heads, Chris Nelson said he enlarged the sculpt when retooling the 2018 into the kills, which could be because it was a clay pour of the 2018 but the way the kills sits on JJC’s head it looks a good bit different compared to how the 2018 sits. even though the 2018 and the Kills came from the exact same sculpt

I never used the words ‘no mask at all’ - my words were carefully written. OF COURSE mask(s) were used for filming along with other creative means to get wonderful effects. In fact for Halloween kills if you look at Dr. Loomis, it’s a 12 part prosthetic that was used by the creative team, and it was done extremely well! Remember there are cinema secrets that don’t always get shown to the public …
