Would you be interested in purchasing a 3D scanned copy of a Mint '75 Spock?

How’s everyone doing? I was recently presented with the opportunity to own a mint condition 1975 Spock. And we’re talking MINT. I do want to purchase it, but before I do I have a question for all of you.
If I were to have the Spock 3D printed, enlarged slightly to account for shrinkage, molded, cast in colored latex, then paint and hair matched to the original, would there be any interest? This isn’t a major factor, but it’s definitely a contributing one.
I’ll go ahead and make it a poll in case anyone doesn’t feel like typing . If anyone has any comments or would be interested, feel free to post and/or vote in the poll.
I’m sure you’re aware but just in case you aren’t; TOTS is producing a spock mask made with the original don post 75 mold. It would be tough to compete with that on accuracy and price but it may be a better topic to revisit once we see what production copies look like? I’d love to see another Spock replica either way.
I did not know, but even taking that into consideration I think a more quality piece may have some desire. Where’s this been announced? It’s like how they started mass producing Psychos and Creeps- it’s a great option for those who don’t have the money, or don’t care, to spring for a higher quality replica. Also when is the Spock supposed to be coming from them, do you know? Thanks for the post!
edit: When looking at the prototype, it seems to lack the proper paint job- so we’ll see what a mass pull/paint job looks like. However it does look great in terms of shape.
I voted yes. the spocks are an interesting mask, and this would definitely be a cool replica.
I guarantee you will get a lot of sales even if the majority of this site seems to be uninterested
Either way you should swoop and keep in your collection. It is a vintage mask that is sought after. Vintage DPS masks are hard to come by. Especially mint! Just my thought man.
I just find this spock mask is irrelevant to Halloween as we know it. I want to keep it true to the movie only. Otherwise this collection will get out of hand and I don``t need irrelevant items. I have too many masks as it is. I`m just speaking for me other people have their own opinions.
I haven’t had too much experience making masks, just some with molds and such. I’ve worked more with mold rubbers/resins than I have latex mask making. There’s a studio here in my hometown that produces large statues and I’ve sat in on some of their sculpting/molding/casting (bronze) sessions and picked up some stuff over the years. I would call myself a prop maker more than I would a mask maker at the moment. The first prop I ever made was a piece from “The Little Vampire” when I was 8 or 9. My first sculpt was a remake Freddy Krueger that I did on a cheap styrofoam head with modeling clay in 2010 when the film came out, so I started work with clay when I was around 10-11. I never got around to molding it because I got frustrated when it didn’t look anything like the remake Freddy . So I scraped it. Then I started doing mini sculpts out of air dry clay, but those obviously crumbled apart. After that I moved into working with rubbers and resins. After selling off all of my collection I purchased rubber “Book of the Dead” molds from another prop collector, repaired them, and produced a few books out of resin for myself. I sold the molds and my copies a long time ago, which I can probably find photos of somewhere if you give me time. All in this time I was working with clay off and on so my experience was little-medium. I attempted to sculpt a kirk mask a few years ago, but I didn’t take any photos, nor did I pull anything from the mold I made. Being super inexperienced I made the mold out of Plaster of Paris, so it was very brittle. Not to mention when it was setting up too fast I decided to add water to it (prevents it from setting up), so the whole project was trashed and it’s all been thrown away. I also sculpted a Funworld Scream mask once, made a plaster of paris mold, and pulled 1-2 copies in neoprene (similar to latex). I could also find photos of those somewhere, as well. Not long ago I resumed the hobby and sculpting, for instance my H4 mask (pics in the P&A section), and a Glen doll that I’m still working on, actually. I don’t have much experience with 3D printing/scanning besides some basic stuff such as 2D drawings and converting them to 3D renderings to use for some of my projects. I was looking to acquire a 3D scanner for a year or two though. I’ll try to find pics and PM them to you when I get a second.
I hope some of this could answer your questions lol.
Yeah the TOTS is from the DP mold and would probs just take a redo to bring it up to standard. Not discouraging you though, could be a cool project on your behalf
