Hi everyone, the past few days I’ve been hearing people speculate that there was a Halloween tv show in the works but it was cancelled and instead decided on a movie that is going to be coming out in 2028 for the 50th anniversary of the original 78 classic. I want to ask what everyone’s thoughts are on this and if there is even any validly to these claims as of now. Personally I don’t know how to feel about another movie coming out, we already have so much in the franchise as of now and the DGG trilogy is still very recent. There are so many different ideas I can think of that would make for a cool new story but I have a feeling they would just reuse and beat the whole sister thing/obsession with one person kind of ordeal, it would be nice IMO to go back to the roots of someone that’s mysterious/unknown.
Hot take, I personally wouldn’t mind seeing Micheal’s childhood, but contrast it to his pure evil. Show that he’s detached, that he doesn’t speak. It might sound silly, but we can show other people wearing the shape mask as a popular costume. Just little things like that, you know?
If it’s 50th anniversary, chances are they will make the movie really good. I’m not strictly against this idea. And people who know me from message boards know I’m bitchin about the last three movies basically the moment I have seen them all. But 50th anniversary could be an entirely different story.
What direction do you think it could go in?
That’s really impossible to answer as of now, I honestly don’t know. If I had to guess however since they don’t learn it’s going to do something with Laurie or a relative of Laurie like her daughter Jamie for Michael to be obsessed about
I was sad to hear that the show was put on hold/cancelled. I really was looking forward to it. I wanted a series in the style of the flashback from Kills. Make it ‘78 again but with new characters, doesn’t need Laurie. A TV show would really allow the writers to go deep into Michael’s character, really draw out him stalking his victims.
It’s hard to speculate, which direction it could take, since basically everything has been done already. But remember the undone Halloween in Skycrapper? This is what they should go for, imo. ![]()
Every single movie after H6 has followed an existing trend (Scream-like, found footage, remake and sequel to remake, legacy sequel reboot and its’ sequel, deconstruction/subverting expectations), so it’d be nice to just get a well made movie that doesn’t follow an existing trend. We also haven’t had an actual (subtly) supernatural Shape Michael since H6, so I’d like to see that 1-6 sort of depiction brought back after a 30 year absense.
The people behind the Myers saga are insane.
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, I suggest you order and read Taking Shape 2, today. The number of planned but never-made Halloween sequels is alarming.
I said, I think the movie could be good, yes, there is still such chance. Am I going to see it? I dunno. With so many new sequels and reboots, I burned out. I haven’t even seen Scream 7. I let the AI tell me the end of the movie.
Damn you, Akkads. I mean, I’m not even sure what to think anymore. I haven’t seen the original for like seven years now. As I said, I’m burned out a bit.
I hope they do a good job but it’ll probably just be another sequel trying to recapture the magic of the original. If it’s fun and entertaining and at least gets the mask right then that would be a success in my book. I’m glad the show got canned as I don’t think digging through the character’s past is a good idea. Part of what worked in the original was the audience not knowing these things. I’m just hoping for a good slasher w/ good scares and a damn good mask.
Character’s past… this was already done in RZH. No way, they can come up with something new that hasn’t been done before, except for sending MM to space, of course.
Or he goes to hell, or manhattan. Take your pick
I think with today’s technology myers going to hell would honestly be fire asf to watch, they could do something with pyramid head too where he like finds the box and starts messing with it
Or even that scrapped hellraiser crossover
Funny fact, I never skipped a single Halloween movie, but times have changed, if they make this one, chances are I’m not even going to see it if it doesn’t appear on my preferred streaming service.
And yes, I will sleep peacefully at night.
