75k or NO Shat?

Hello everyone. The snow is all melting here in Michigan and getting me ready for Fall again!
My next (maybe last - we’ll see :unamused: ) mask purchase is likely going to be a Nightowl Shat done H1 hero by James Carter.
However, the 75k is also pulling at my thoughts once in a while.

I was wondering if you folks could share with me what you find inaccurate about either of these two masks.
I don’t mean in a bashing or nitpicking way, as these two are INSANE sculpts no matter what.
I just mean in comparison to the (main) mask worn by Nick Castle in 1978.

The Shat seems to “have it” in the mouth area a little more for me.
But the 75k seems to be a little more accurate, shape-wise (no pun intended) overall.

Feel free to sound off and sorry for creating another one of “those” threads.

Get one done up by James, then save up and get another!

Haha! If funds permitted, my friend!

You can’t go wrong with either one… 98 proto too. I prefer the Creep/Shat for the '78 look, but just slightly. What tips the scales for me is the crease on the forehead of the Creep/Shat. Nick kept the mask folded in his back pocket between takes, which created a visible crease on the forehead of the hero mask. That’s why I slightly prefer the Creep/Shat for the '78 look. However, for the '81 look I prefer the 75k because it doesn’t have the crease. Dick Warlock’s head being wider stretch out the mask when he worn it, thus concealing the crease.
Either way, you won’t be disappointed with either one… Especially if James is the one working on it.
Here’s a photo of my Creep, haired by James, and my 75k (old mold) Kirk.

For me, the 75k all day.

75k by a little, but with two such great sculpts it comes down more to who is the finisher…and if they’re being finished by the same person, I could see them potentially bringing out more in one than another for example.

I had a Shat H2 and a 75K H2, both JC’s personal copies and I let the Shat go. Comparing them side by side and worn the 75K just does it for me. I’m 23 1/2 so the 75K fit tighter giving it a better stretch and my worns were just better with the 75K.
Don’t get me wrong though I still miss my Shat but my choice keeps me satisfied. Hope this helps ya.

Thanks for all the input, guys.
RabbitInRed, those are some killer pieces, brother!

For me, here’s the strengths and weaknesses in both:

Shat:
+Crease in forehead

  • Lip bump in corner of mouth
  • Very Kirk like features
  • Thicker pull makes it more difficult to stretch, as Don pointed out above
  • It really depends on who you get to convert it

75K :

  • Crisper features in the new mold make it more photogenic and easier in general to photograph. The cheeks are more prominent on the 75K, making them pop more.
+/- On average, Nik does a thinner pull than Justin, so it’s easier to stretch, but sometimes makes the mask slightly translucent. This was how my H78 was before I repainted it.
  • This is more of a personal opinion, but I like how Nik does the eyebrows and ears on the 75K sculpt better than the eyebrows and ears on the Shat/Creep sculpt.
+/- Lacks crease and lip bump, but this isn’t a problem for me personally. I prefer it without the crease and lip bump. Again, one of those things that come down on personal preference.

based on pics, a Jc shat is the one mask I’d love to have. You might also want to think about sizes. I think the new mold 75k is one size only

Thanks again for the opinions, you guys.

So, my head is exactly 23.5" around.
Are Shats normally around this size?

75k

I actually think that the Shat is more accurate shape-wise, in which I consider the 75k to be more rounded, based on my experience. The eyebrows are more accurate on a NAG mask definitely! But I am not sure whether Justin has improved there since the Shat came out for the more recent masks. I also imagine the mouth of the 75k being more flat, perhaps the Shat has more of a smirk going on? Don’t know what would be more accurate in that regard though. I still find the 75k to be more accurate (when worn and displayed at least) and that it also even has that blank featureless ghostly look to it like he himself is described as too.

I believe you can get a 75k in 23 and 24, and a Shat in 23, 24, and 25. Someone correct me please if that’s wrong though. My Creep is a 24 and although it’s my best-fitting mask, it’s still a bit big. Pretty sure I’m a 23.
