Hi guys. If you own a 98 proto can you post your pics? Are they a bigger mask than a 75k…why are they called 98 proto…are they in the gallery yet. Sorry for all the questions but i just want to know its worth it before i get a blank. I have 3… 75k masks, 1 creep, a mint 75, a nightmare, and an mmk

As far as I know, it’s rougher texture is what’s different from a 75K. I believe it’s the same size but may be just a bit smaller. I couldn’t be happier with mine

They are small masks, the only other mask I have around that size is a Boogeyman Masks Tiberius (which is essentially a Stardate 78). The main differences are that it has more prominent details a rounder head shape and a different mouth area shape. The size, let me put it this way. You have the deluxe, old mold, and new mold 75K’s which are your average Kirk size, then below that is a 75K Supreme, then below that is the '98 Proto. I have no idea if the '98’s come in different sizes or not, but I’m assuming not. If you have an old mold MMK it’s slightly smaller than that.
Hate to disagree with you but deluxe 75K is not a specific mold…it was called deluxe simply because the “special” finishing on a 75k by Nik.
There are 5 types of 75K…Old mold/classic 24" roughly, not greatest detail but broader nose makes for better myers imo. New mold…not as rounded, greater detail in features and thinner nose. Supreme mold…smaller say 23", more defined features and tip of nose different thinner (makes some of the best kirks imo) ONLY about 15 of these in existence. Castle mold 75K…slightly larger than supreme but not as large as old mold…much more detail in forehead bump/slope and can pretty much pull off any look in its sleep (only 3 of these made…I own one and so does Nik). Then the 98 proto recast…which is basically an unpolished more detailed classic 75K and I heard only 12 or 15 of these in existence. They are not smaller than the supreme…mine is around 23.5".
As of a week or so ago you could still order a proto cast. Ultimately I didn’t order one but they are available, just more expensive than the standard 75k

Yes I did hear somewhere they were $500 a blank??? but then was told they were limited… 
Yeah good descriptions guys.I own a supreme and it,s the smallest as mentioned and 23 is prob a good guess.the 98,s i Have are larger ,prob 23 1/2 again as Shape said.I have a very Castle shaped head i,v always been told and the 98,s fit me like they were tailor made 2 my face just perfect H1 how I believe the hero was sized.New molds are pretty big from front 2 back though where the proto is perfectly shaped all around.

The 98 Proto is a great looking mask. It makes a much better Kirk then it does a Myers imo. I almost bought one of these a while back but realized that these masks are so small even someone like me with a smaller sized head can’t even wear them. What the heck is the sense of that? It’s purely a display mask. So personally I can’t justify spending the money on one.
You should be able to wear it man. Not even as small as a 99 Shatner imo. Of course it would depend on the thickness of the pull
My supreme is tiny!!! the proto is hero 23 1/2 size.I have 2 of em still and their very wearable.the test mold makes a better Kirk than the reg IMO.the 2 H1,s i,v done are 2 of my fav H1,s i,v seen but but its cool we all have such different taste.makes is fun
How would the 98 proto compare, size wise, to an H2SM? I’d really like to get my hands on a 98 proto one of these days, but not if it’s smaller than the H2SM, which fits me tightly, like a second skin.
i,ll compare right now with blanks.OK H2sm is smaller than I remember unless they very.this is the 3rd h2sm blank iv had through here but this 1 is very close 2 the size of 98 proto,s.the 98,s no smaller.

My AHG 98 Proto… This comes from the original small mold and it is small… I can get it on just and its a little smaller than a 99.

I keep seeing the phrase, “Original Mold”. Did NIK make another mold that is bigger?? When I read what one of the above posters said about, “being a little smaller the the 99’s”, that’s very small then. I’ve owned plenty of 99’s in the past. Both the 40.00 & 100.00 versions, & they’re both small masks.
