A change of heart?

So I recently watched Halloween: Resurrection for the first time in around six or seven years. I remember being a little kid and disliking it, so I’ve avoided it for a very long time. But I decided to give it another shot, after watching the DVD collecting dust on my shelf.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought!

Sure, it’s a completely unnecessary sequel as H20 wrapped things up well, but I had a fun time with it. Brad Loree did a fantastic job as Myers, I love the use of those mini-cameras to give a Blair Witch vibe, and the opening is one of the best in the series.

My question is…has anyone else ever had a change of heart about an entry in the series? And if not, maybe you should revisit some Halloween movies that you used to hate…who knows, maybe you’ll change your mind

Actually I Have Had A Change Of Heart, When I Was Little I Thought Halloween 5 Was The Worst Halloween Of Them All, But Over The Past Year I’ve Been Watching Halloween 5 And Now Its Like My Favorite Haha  But I Have Had Another Change Of The And That Is That I Dislike Halloween 6, And I’ve ALWAYS Hated Halloween 3, Halloween 3 Would Have Been Better If They Hadn’t Named It And Affilerated It With The Halloween Franchise. But Yeah The Point Of This Was That I Hated Halloween 5 When I Was Little But Now I Love It.

That’s awesome to hear, man…H5 is a great entry in the franchise. I really like the dark atmosphere of the movie, and you gotta love the opening credits with the pumpkin getting hacked to pieces haha

I had a change of heart with Halloween III. When I first saw it when I was young I thought it was horrible and just didn’t like it at all. Now it’s one of my favorite films to watch come Halloween. I just gave it a shot a few years back and was surprised at just how much I loved it. I honestly can’t remember why I didn’t like it in the first place. I think it was just that it didn’t feature Michael.

I used to be one of those die hard fans that only liked Halloween 1 & 2, Then H20 was introducted to mark the Anniversary, so, I added that to my collection as it continued and (at the time) concluded Lauries ongoing struggle with Michael, I used to believe 3, 4 , 5 & 6, were cheap straight to dvd rip offs and never gave them the time they actually deserved in the franchise. I have to say that, whilst Im still not completely in love with Season of the witch, but I do own it as part of the collectors boxset, I actually now love 4,5 & 6! The atmosphere is chilling and has a real feel of dread running through all 3 of these films, I now see them as a mini trilogy story set within the existing franchise. The lead characters, I think, are very well portrayed, and its always a complete pleasure to watch D.P as the wonderful Dr Loomis, some of his scenes in these 3 films are completely excellent. I urge anyone to give these another go… They really are worth it, and completely deserve their place within the franchise…

Thanks all :finga: :drinkers:

The first time I saw H3 the first time I didnt like it but now I love it. Same with Rob Zombie’s H2. I DESPISED IT at first, but then I watch it a second time in theaters and now its my 2nd favorite in the franchise. However with H8…I gave it too many chances and its my least favorite of them all.

I remember the first time i watched part 5 & 6…I thought they were cheaply made, predictable, & the acting was just horrible & when you notice things like that it turns into just “a movie” instead of being able to get lost in your physical surroundings & being able to get engulfed in the movie itself. I thought they were very far apart from the 1978 & 81 movies & the budgets on 5 & 6 were so much higher & had such a beautiful chance at creating a “Michael Myers” classic but lacked the overall quality of the first two…Well i am please to announce for the very first time that my opinion that was formed minutes after first watching them years ago has not changed one bit.

I still think they were poorly made & for once i agree with Moustapha Akkad in that "part 5 was rushed & not enough thought was put into the story line, we were competing with ourselves & against part 4". My own little opinion is that the quality stopped being cared for after part 4. From there on out it seemed the only thing that anyone cared about was making $$ & it’s sad to think that after the money most everybody made that they couldn’t take time to think about making a seriously good horror movie even if the people involved weren’t going to make AS MUCH as the previous parts…

I think most everything was sacrificed from the acting to the lighting to the choice of mask used right down to the name “HalloweeN”. I won’t even start with the CGI mask thing as that was a train wreck in it’s self…In other words i have not had a change of heart…For those that have had a change of heart, it just means you guys have that many more HalloweeN movies to enjoy…Good deal!

Awesome post 50-oNe-50… dude, I agree with you entirely on 5 and 6… as well as the dip in quality and care that went in to the sequels after part 4. I still watch them, but I still dislike them all the same. I think I watch them because they are Halloween films, and most of them feature Donald Pleasance. But I pick them apart year in and year out.

I myself didn’t particularly like H3, but after seeing it a few more times, it would be a pretty good horror film on its own.
