Hey everyone! I’ve wanted to get some opinions on this from the board since I’ve struggled to make up my own mind on the topic, so any thoughts would be helpful.
I’m planning on making a purchase of one Nik’s masks, and want this to be my definitive John Carpenter’s HalloweeN Shape. I currently own a 2016 copy of the Nightowl Creep finished as an H1 by Justin, and I love it, but it just doesn’t do it for me to achieve that look, not to discredit Justin in any way, I think It’s a matter of personal taste. However, after looking through the NAG catalog, I’ve really been amazed with the quality and just overall screen accuracy they have to the original in my eyes, along with a relatively short wait time Nik has.
What I’ve been struggling with is which one to get. The three that stood out to me were the 98 Proto, the 75k Castle and the 75k Old Mold. While I believe the 98 Proto may be the absolute best of these in terms of accuracy, the price has made me cross that out as an option unfortunately. Leaving two other just as stellar masks that I’ve been deciding upon. The price of these two isn’t an issue, more so which one is closer to what we see on screen, also keeping in mind I plan to have this finished by Nik as well.
Any opinions on this are valid, if you own these two, or one of the them, feel free to post pictures! Love seeing well done copies.
If you see the 98 proto as most accurate, wait and save the money up for it. It sounds like it would be the mask most likely to satisfy you. That’s my opinion and what I’d do in your situation.
Under the circumstances I’m in currently, I can’t do that, as much I’d like to save up for it. Besides, this post is meant for opinions on which of the two mentioned masks makes a better H1, all beauty is in the eye of the beholder of course, but I’d like to value the opinions of board members as well.
Well, the board has spoken! And after closer examination on my part, along with everyone else’s consensus, I’m dead set on snagging a Castle mask, thanks everyone!
Bringing this discussion back from the dead just to add my thoughts! So glad you went with 75k castle. In my opinion the 98 proto is best as a kirk or h2. The castle (to me) is the closest look to the particular kirk they used for the hero. The hero has a slight elongation to its face and the castle is the only Replica I’ve seen with that exact shape
I have owned all the masks you mentioned and IMO of those choices I like the 98 Proto best but you can’t go wrong with any of them. My personal favorite H1 is my PS78 which I feel is the most accurate H1 mask but like you said it’s different for everyone!
If you think the 98 Proto is the most accurate, save up and get that mask, period. As far as 75k old mold & 75k Castle, I’ve owned both and the castle beats it by a lot. Just my opinion. The 75k old mold makes a great H2 though. Hope you find what your looking for.
I have had the same dilemma forever and had ordered a 75k castle but after the big mess online a few months back I decided to cancel.
I still want a Castle 75k the most, then I’d chose the 98 Proto imho.
