Alright, well doing it for a power trip is kind of pointless, and might I add kinda rude.
If they swore to not share them, then that begs the question, why they made them swear not to show? I know you might not have the answers, I’m not directly asking you. Just think its weird.
Hopefully in the future more BTS Halloween shots will be released.
Nobody owns the wrap party shots except Kim.
The only shots we’ve seen are the ones that are already posted here.
Not sure why some collectors not wanting to share a pic is “rude”.
If Kim says no, then no means no.
I see guys stealing costume pics from here and passing them off as the real deal, then months later they’re used on coffee mugs and tee shirts while the original owner of the shot gets no credit.
Now thats what I call rude.
More or less selfish and childish actually.
Yeah no means no, but why no lol?! We’re diehard Halloween fans, what purpose does it serve holding several cool BTS Halloween shots for us to not see. Not to sound ungrateful for the pics we have because I am grateful for them, but theres no reason for us not see pictures that we have the availability to but can’t because some hoard them. Period
Yeah that’s also rude, not sure how that relates though.
That’s as foolish as saying some hot lady has gorgeous boobs and doesn’t want to show them but you have every right to see them because YOU THINK they’re gorgeous
Now let’s say Kim or someone dumps all her pics here, are people gonna buy her book. Are you?
The majority of Halloween memorabilia out there that uses her pics don’t pay her a dime for all the work she’s done.
Try being in her shoes.
Whoever pushes the shutter has every right to decide who he or she wants to show them to, that is the law.
Oh it relates alot. Read again my answer above.
Same thing.
I think we’ll have to agree to disagree that doing something that goes against morals and body privacy is a different story than showing bts shots to fans.
I’m not sure what book you’re talking about. But regardless, I agree that she should have royalties for her photos used in memorabilia.
You guys expect everthing to be given to you for free?
I’m kinda shocked you know who Kim is but don’t know about the book? The collectors here helped with the pics.
Why?
She was never given back the negatives.
She’s also a member here.
No I didn’t know about her book but thank you for telling me, it’s a different story when the BTS shots we have now and the shots we haven’t seen derive from a book with physical copies of the pictures. But to answer your question, if the pictures were posted here would I still buy the book, you bet I would. Thats like saying why buy art prints from artists when you can look at the picture of it online.
I have a second hand copy of the book, so technically still a dirty image thief.
The simplest explanation is that photos are withheld to retain their value as collector’s items.
For Halloween II, there are probably more robust legal constraints due to it being a bigger production. I’m assuming KGW wasn’t the only one taking photos on that shoot too.
I just want to see what the other side of the schoolyard stunt mask looks like…
There are no additional legal constraints for H2 stills vs H1. Kim was the only photographer on the set of H2. She would shoot the production, and at the end of each week make up prints of what she thought were the best shots for, a. to assist the publicists in selecting stills for the press kits/lobby cards, and b. for her own portfolio as an artist. At the end of the shoots her negatives went to the studios for the stills to be used in years to come for publicity. Therefore, what has been released in her book are the stills she kept from her portfolio. There are a few others that didn’t make the cut, but most have been shown at one time or another because they were the ones she suggested for publicity.
Any very rare unseen shots floating around that Kim doesn’t have copies of have trickled down from the studios over the years. Promotional stills and slides that have fallen into the hands of collectors through eBay and private sales. There is no influence on these individuals to share or hide what they have apart from themselves. Anything Kim didn’t want shown was to protect the success of her book prior to release. All that the great lady asks for these days is a photo credit. People will never stop sharing her stills and she never sees a dime for that hard work, so it’s a very small thing to ask.
Agreed K-Man… IF someone takes photos, it’s their choice to show them. Most people don’t realise that photos are copyright to the photographer as soon as the shutter button is pressed. It’s bad enough seeing everyone steal your work, let alone making money off it.
Also it’s bang out of order to question someone’s morals over their choice to disclose imagery. Just because you’re whining like a little girl about it, doesn’t put Kim’s morals into question, it puts you into question as to why you think you have the right to see them.
Sure it would be nice to see shots we haven’t seen before, but that isn’t our choice, we did not take a camera to set and take photos, Kim did.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not questioning any of Kim’s decisions regarding her photos. I’d certainly feel the same in her position. I saw pretty much every Shape photo in the book on the internet before I even knew the book existed. I also saw her comment on facebook about being frustrated with the spread of the images and the apparent pointlessness of doing a book. So I get that. I wonder if she has explored selling higher quality print reproductions. Although those would invariably get spread around too.
My comment regarding collector hoarding was referring only to those that do so. The photos aren’t public domain, and I’m not expressing any right to see anything. I’m certainly not questioning morals. I’m just of the belief that some collectors like to keep their possessions secret because they are worth more in private than spread over the internet. It seems like such an obvious thing to do, that surely some do it. However I don’t doubt that many have worked with Kim to return material to her and respected her wishes. So masks off to them.
It’s mildly frustrating for people like me that want to recreate the mask accurately. But that’s all it is, just an inconvenience.
