Hello everyone, since Halloween draws closer and closer, I’ve been planning on styling the hair of my ToTs 78 after I fix the hairline, but I have heard that the hair seems to be very hard to work with and will be difficult. It does seem that my copy also has a lack of hair on it too, or maybe it’s just matted down. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Honestly that looks fine how it is! TOTS hair is a pain to style.
I like how the top looks, but the I feel that the sides need to be tweaked and I need to make twills on the sides somehow…
For some side twills you will have to take some strands closest to the ears and trim them back a bit. That’s how I did it with mine. It’s really the only way your going to get that look on these. Otherwise the hair is just too long on the sides to pull it off right. I would just trim a little bit back off of the strands closest to the ears. You don’t need to trim the whole area, just trim enough to get the twills going. I will try and get a few pics later to show you how I do it.

I cut the hair on the back to get rid of the mullet look. I ripped off about an inch of hair behind the ears on the last row. On my mask the hair just protruded too much on the neck.
The spacing betwen the stripes of hair can vary so much. I have two. On one there’s a baldspot on the crown unless the hair is strategically matted down. On the other you can see a bit of white behind the hairline.
I think these are the kind of twills Lawson meant… (I hope) but these are the twills near the ears
