Looks like Jason is back, with a whole new look to boot! Redesigned with the help of Greg Nicotero, Friday the 13th is getting rebooted with a new, singular look that will “span new movies, gaming, immersive experiences, collectibles and more,” according to the description on Bloody Disgusting.
Honestly, I dig the new look. I like that they’re making him alive again. The entire costume reminds me a lot of remake Jason with the coat, actually. I’m not completely sold on rhe new hock. The shape feels off, and gives kind of a “generic” hockey mask look, like the kind you’d buy at a dollar store during Halloween time. I do like the more squared eye holes. They give the mask a more unique look. I’d personally make the chevrons smaller and more spaced apart, myself. But I think they wanted them a uniform size like on the original mask, and the top ones are meant to do the work for Jason’s expression, giving the mask an angry look while keeping the spirit of the Part 3/remake look.
I think part of what is attracting me to this costume is that I’ve been considering building a concept Myers costume using an OD green jacket, black t-shirt and grey pants. This comes at a perfect time. I really want to try and replicate this one.
