I
I am man, I feel the same way about the franchise. You said it perfectly. The films are just a fun time and I welcome any new addition or take on the material.
Nothing will top the original, but that’s not what I have in my mind when viewing any of the sequels. If I want the original, I just watch the original! Otherwise I enjoy seeing the different takes on our favorite horror icon!
While some are atrociously bad, like Resurrection, lol, it still has its own thing going on and I still enjoy seeing the different takes on Myers throughout the different generations. When you watch H20 or Resurrection, you can tell your watching products of the late 90’s, early 2000’s. They have the flavor going on for sure.
Or when you watch RZ’s films, they come from a time when a lot of horror was going down this over the top dirtball road, like Texas chainsaw and Friday the 13th did. A very gritty and dirty time for horror films. Or if you watch H4 and H5, they definitely give off that spandex wearing late 80s vibe, and being a child of the 80’s, I love that kind of shit lol.
H6 gives that mid 90s vibe of Alternative and Metal, which is what I think of when I think back on the early to mid 90’s. Each film has captured those time periods quite well, even though mostly unintentionally.
I like all of them for their own various reasons. But mostly because it gives me more Michael Myers! That’s why I am here, I am a fan of the character, and enjoy seeing the next take on his trials and tribulations through Haddonfield!
Plus most importantly, it gives us another addition to the mask itself, I love all the various masks and their own vibes and flavors. Thats why this site exsists, for the love of those various looks of the masks through the years. If this was just a Halloween 1978 site, things would get boring real quick just talking about the same movie and one look constantly.
So yes, I say bring on more movies! Keeps us engaged and talking about Myers, regardless if it’s stuff we like or hate.
Very well said my friend!
