RUH ROH!

Wow,scummy corporate animals!!! :finga: :finga: :axe: :finga: :finga:

This is beyond ridiculous.

What a**holes.

Guys,

Maybe NOW people will listen when others speak. I mentioned back in the day when the “featured artist” section was birthed, that it was a bad idea and only handing them our beloved mask makers on a silver platter. I was of course, told I “had no idea what I was talking about…” from several self-proclaimed “genius” members on this site. Happens alot even when I prove I’m correct on “said” issues I offered the initial advice about.

Here are the cold hard facts…again.

  1. Bryan Rayman is a collector and has ALL of the masks he rallies against along side Trancas.

  2. Bryan Rayman used to feature them and even SOLD bootlegged copies of the Halloween series on his website.

  3. Bryan Rayman visits THIS BOARD EVERYDAYYYYYY!

  4. Don’t want your favorite mask maker shut down? DON’T TELL RAYMAN/TRANCAS WHERE TO FIND THEM ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THIS WEBSITE!

  5. Keep your inquiries about where to purchase masks/mask makers info etc IN PM’S OR PRIVATE E-MAILS ONLY!

This should not be that hard to figure out, correct?

If you ask me Trancas shutting down HSS is only hurting their own business because when we as collectors go out on halloween and show off our costumes to everyone and they “spark” interest in the Halloween franchise thats just more money in their pockets. WE AS A COMMUNITY are the ONLY reason the Halloween franchise is still as big as it is today, without us it would have died at H3!!! Venting Sorry

I don’t know if having a company on the front page is good or bad, but I do know that what you propose doesn’t make a lot of sense. Only get/give info or buy/sell through pm’s? That would never work. Besides the fact if this idiot from trancas visits everyday he can read your post or any others from here on out and figure out all the mask makers. You are talking about taking this totally underground like it’s the black market or something.

How is Cryptco still selling and HSS isn’t? I don’t think it’s because they were featured, I think it’s because they just happened to go after them. It’s really stupid on their part because obviously HSS is still going to make and sell masks regardless of what Trancas or their little lap dog does. BTW, if this guy is on the site spying and causing problems with mask makers then why hasn’t he been banned? Does he go under another name or possibly have multiple accounts? I think admin should check for any duplicate IP addresses and not let any member have more than one account or user name. That is how I mod at my forum, really helps get rid of the troublemakers.

Just my 2 cents

I AGREE IT HURTS THERE BUISNESS NOT HSS. PEOPLE COULDN’T CARE LESS IF YOUR MYERS FOR HALLOWEEN WITH A MASS PRODUCE PIECE OF SHIT MASK MADE BY THEM. PEOPLE CRAP THEMSELVES AND GO NUTS WHEN THEY SEE A REAL MYERS MASK. .

And not to play the devil’s advocate, but I disagree here as well. There are many fans of Halloween out there and if anyone thinks shutting down indy maskmakers would affect ticket sales of a future Halloween movie, you are mistaken. Even if every single member at this forum did a boycott of the next movie and didn’t buy a ticket it wouldn’t make a big difference one way or the other as far as the big picture is concerned. It would be a drop in the bucket.

Let me break it down another way… this forum currently has 3,609 members. Lets pretend for a second that all of them are active members (not) and a new Halloween movie came out. Lets also say an average ticket price for the movie was $10.00

Now if everyone of those 3,609 members agreed to not buy a ticket to see the movie (never happen) Trancas would lose out on a total of $36,090.00 dollars. That’s the problem though, it would be made up by random people going to see the movie, not to mention I doubt that many of the listed members on the site even visit with any regularity and you guys know that for the most part if a new Halloween movie comes out you will be in line waiting to buy your ticket.

I most likely wouldn’t buy a ticket, but that’s just because I don’t go to movies much anymore, I don’t like crowds. But it still remains that Trancas couldn’t give a shit whether the members of this forum got pissed of at them, nor would they relate that to a loss of ticket sales. They simply do this because they are not seeing any money from products sold which are based on a character they own the rights to…plain and simple.

There will always be indy mask makers and a place like this great forum for us to go to, so don’t worry so much about Trancas and the sad little bastard causing problems here, HSS will keep going and so will all of us.

I can tell you this , having HSS on the homepage does draw attention to his site good and bad.Im sure trancas did not like the fact people come here to this site and see HSS as the featured mask making company. It had to play a role in trancas contacting him, IMO.I could be wrong though.

if Bryan is a member BAN HIM!!! :imp: :imp: :imp:
What sleezes. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Smdm85,

Incorrect. They CHOSE to go after HSS first, and they will go after EVERYONE in due time if we allow it to happen in an easy fashion. What I’m certain alot of poeple on this site DON’T get/understand, is intellectual copyright infringment(s) I DO understand it, and deal with it everyday.

I’m not saying go underground, I’m saying be VERY careful what you announce on the front page here, and in forum posts. The REAL fans/collectors know by know where to go and who to purchase from, but I’d certainly start removing links to other sites etc before they receive cease and desist orders as well. And trust me, it’ll happen.

It doesn’t take much to file an injunction against a mask maker, especially if Trancas can prove their copyrights have been infringed and the maker has made a signifigant amount of money. If you think this site isn’t under the microscope of a pending class action lawsuit against mask makers, you’re sorely mistaken my friend. This site is an encyclopedia of info on where to find every mask maker in the game today, and of days past.

This is business, and Trancas takes their business very, very seriously. This hobby has generated millions of dollars over the past 15 or so years (Myers related) and if you, or anybody else thinks that Trancas will just sit back and allow people to take money from them, you’re crazy.

exactly, and u actually know what your talkin about, really nothin else needs to be said, you summed it all up perfectly, its nice having someone like you on the board, your very knowledgable about these things.Z

Thanks Z,

It’s a horrid thing that is happening, but you must’ve all seen it coming, no? I know I did. What Trancas is doing is well within their rights as owners of the Michael Myers character and his likeness.

Do I agree with them? No. Do I wish it would all go away? Yes. Will it go away? Not a effin’ chance. This is just the tip of a very large iceberg.

Yeah, well maybe you are right, but I’ve heard this come up before and the forum is still here and going strong. If what you say is true then the little spy from Trancas already knows and has all the links to all the mask makers and so they would all be shut down already. You are a very opinionated fellow I can tell from other posts I’ve read of yours, that’s fine, but I don’t think the sky is falling as far as this goes. Look at HSS and look what they said…sure they were pissed that they were forced to remove some pics of things they sell, but they intend to keep selling them too.

I know how business works, I know about copyright infringement and also cease and desist orders…there are ways around all of that and obviously there are too many people into this to allow the company to tell them they can’t make masks or talk about them. Look, I have a friend who makes excellent Batman suits. That’s pretty much how he makes his living, I’m talking about suits that he sells on a regular basis for over 2 grand each…sure ebay fucked with him, but he found ways around that even after warning from Warner Brothers.

Look up bat costume on ebay right now and check the highest price item first…you will see what I mean.

Indy myers masks ARE underground and many ways the black market of masks. That goes for ANY licensed character for that matter. Myers replicas are illegal. We don’t want to say it but it’s true. Being an indy mask maker is one thing but being an indy mask maker who creates and sells licensed characters is quite another. I hope Sam didn’t get the shaft on this but it’s a risk that the mask makers are taking.

Smdm85,

Your friend does excellent work. That being said, The Brothers Warner could still sue his talented ass off regardless of “changing the name” and calling it “bat suit”

That is where intellectual copyright infringment comes in, thus I’m not entirely sure just how much you truly know about the topic. Name changing doesn’t stop it, they’d simply have to file a different claim in court, that’s all.

Evil is correct, it IS illegal, but we’ve sort of “swept it under the proverbial rug” for years and years. But, if Trancas wanted to (And it appears they’re gearing up to do it) shut it all down, they can and have the power to do it. I took a look at a class action lawsuit this afternoon, and it was as thick as a phonebook, no joke.

They could file an injunction to make Sam STOP selling masks, no matter what avenue he chooses to do it, e-mail, texting, new website, Facebook, Twitter, you name it, they can stop him. And don’t think that Trancas doesn’t have moles out there making purchases, because they do.
