Wowzers…
Very Intresting! Would Love to see them! Bob
Wow!!! Gonna watch this.
That’s cool it has survived this long. But it’s a print that was shown at a movie theater not the extra footage billy has. Still very nice to have but not at that price.
Nice find Mike!
Am i right in thinking its just a theater copy and not extras like Billy K has?
(id still want tho)
So its a dvd copy for $7500?
Might be confused…
oh just seen what Paul said.
That’s very cool. I wonder what condition it’s in and how far down the line it was printed? With the correct projector settings and maintenance good 16mm film can look excellent. Analog film can do things digital can’t and has higher resolution than you’d think, but copies degrade in quality as well as excess use unlike digital, and the film needs to be properly kept and maintained. I’d imagine it’s look cool any way you slice it though as even a rough print would give it that drive in feel.
Billy is NOT the only one who has the extra footage in complete reel form. Several years ago, I met a local collector who has an original copy with the extra footage. I offered him 1975 Kirk money for it as I planned on releasing the footage to collectors who have been asking to see it for years, but out of fear of potential legal backlash he declined to sell. Moral of story? If Billy isn’t the only one with a copy then I’m sure more than this other set exist. It’s just a matter of time before the footage publically surfaces.
Yeah, Halloween footage is everywhere! You can go buy some down the street from me. What I have has never been transfered…it’s actual camera negative. If you hold it up to the light, it’s yellow. It’s not on reels, it’s spooled by camera takes and numbered; the only way you can tell what you have is by having an actual lined script, which we have. It’s never, ever been transfered or seen…and that is directly from Tommy Lee Wallace, Nick Castle, John Carpenter and Dean Cundey.
ok fellas, please don’t make me lock my own thread . its all been said, argued & beat to death. lets move on.

i thought theater movie reals were 35mm not 16mm…always thought 16mm was used by tv stations
was halloween shown in theaters on 16mm???
16mm film prints are not that hard to find, but a lot of the titles that everyone wants are with collectors. 16mm movie prints were prints that traveled around Military Bases or Colleges. Most television stations in their early years did use some 16mm prints but most were transfered to tape. A friend of mine has 16mm prints for Halloween and Halloween II. He bought them in the early 1990’s. The only thing is, to really enjoy those you must have a scope lens or the movie will look squished.
Last year a 16mm print for Halloween sold for $300 on eBay. That is actually the normal price…$300.
Ha, the 16mm print you saw on ebay was probably the one I used to own. I’ve seen it turn up there every year or so since I sold it.
A couple things to mention here… The pics in this auction are clearly of a 35mm print, NOT 16mm. 35mm equipment is much more expensive, heavier, and harder to maintain than 16mm equipment. Most prints of Halloween you find are going to be Eastman color, in which case it’s almost certainly going to be faded to some degree. My old 16mm copy had a slight color shift, but nothing major. A lot of them are much worse (completely red). A faded 35mm print of Halloween will likely be worth only about $500 at most. I’ve seen them sell for as little as $100. The cans and the reels here look nasty. I personally wouldn’t touch it even if the price was reasonable. It’s obviously been sitting neglected in those cans for a long time and film that isn’t stored properly can develop vinegar syndrome. Once it gets the vinegar smell it’s doomed. So yeah, I would avoid this auction like the plague. Insanely overpriced and tons of red flags for anyone that knows about film collecting.
I just wish we all could see the extras Billy has. The only reason I brought up his name is because somebody asked if Billy was the guy selling this on ebay.
And I want you to see the footage too, that’s why I bought it!! But wanting you to see the footage is not enough. I went to the right people to get involved and ALL are excited about the footage: Carpenter, Cundey and Wallace and if Hill was alive, you know she would be excited too. But it’s up to one person whether you see the footage or not…not me sadly.
My friend Jim has Halloween in 35mm too; same style of cases and everything. You can probably buy a 35mm print for about $500 to $600…depending on the collector, if you can find a collector willing to get rid of it. But then, showing it is another thing.
35mm prints are often less expensive than other gauges. There were so many more copies struck and there’s less demand because it’s so much easier to get into the smaller formats. You can even get a print of Halloween on Super 8, new from Derann.
You know we could all come over for a private showing Billy

All I have transfered is about 20 minutes, at Horrorhound I had it with me. A bunch of people saw the footage at Horrorhound in Indy! What was funny was I was showing the footage in front of Justin Beahm at the bar and Lance Guest, Dick Warlock, Nick Castle, Tommy Wallace, Brian Andrews, Leo Rossi and several others were at a table right behind us eating. It was a HOOT!
