As a Halloween fan..do you consider yourself a nerd?

I said yes, but I’m not sure if nerd is the right word. I think it goes further than that. I’m such a freak about so many different things, I feel like a outsider on here at times. I think it has to do with intensity, everything I do, collecting, sports, playing music, painting, outdoor stuff appreciating nature, all of it is done with maximum purpose. I get a lot out of things, but it can be tiring. So, it is a trade off.

Another vote here for “horror nerd.” Halloween, of course, falls under that, and casts a huge shadow.

Yes.
I actually have friends and family tell me I am a nerd bc of all the collecting but that is fine with me

I prefer the term geek. I’m a horror geek and very proud of it.

I agree with Mike Aspinwall. I’m more of a horror nerd. Sad part about it is when my friends come over I tend to hide my masks and other horror memorabilia just because I don’t want to be labeled a nerd or for them to think I’m weird. Maybe I should take a different approach and say F it.

i am and proud of it
of course my friend’s say the one thing that makes me a HUGE nerd is my life size stormtrooper from star wars, some say nerdy but you cant say it isn’t cool :sunglasses:
i like all films and i believe we fans are the coolist people around

Did 14 people really vote no? NERDS! I mean that is pretty funny right?

LMAO people in denial.   JK. I consider myself more of a undercover nerd

Yep im a Horror nerd for sure

I’m with Roger on this… I have several intense interests and hobbies going on all the time. I will say that the “Halloween film fan” inside of me tends to smuther out the other interests quite a bit! I guess it stems from me seeing the movie on the big screen back in 78 and being mesmerized by it ever since! Now, do I consider myself a nerd?.. nah, not even close for me! A crazed fan of the originals???.. most definitely!

But when it comes to “Halloween” (the Oct 31st holiday) and all the festive things involved… then yep, I’m a big ole self proclaimed NERD! LOVE IT GUYS!

JC

Good point James. Well said :drinkers:

So,you voted NO,James? :tonqe:

I was thinking the same thing!!Just didn’t want to say it as the originator of this thread/poll.

Absolutely… NO!

Denial!!!

Just kiddin’,my brother. If you ever need to talk about it,I’m here

 You got it Randy! :butthead:

I just don’t see how people who frequent a halloween website message board don’t see how lame that is in the overall scheme of things. I know what I do is lame and I love every second of it. I think if someone is embarrassed about being a little nerdy then they have bigger problems then admitting it to other nerds who like the same thing. How much cooler can a nerd be thats in denial then one who admits it openly?

Example would be someone comes to your house and see’s your mask/masks and asks you if it yours and why its displayed and you make up some excuse as to why it’s out in the open during February instead of saying you collect masks…lol. Movies are awesome and masks are awesome. If collecting makes me nerdy I would hate to see what normal people do for fun because I can admit that I think normal people are lame and not interesting at all. I’m sure everyone here has friends or family that don’t do much of anything but have an opinion on everything.

I hate to reply a lot in my own threads but DAMN,Scott…you are truly putting it perfectly every time here.I agree with every word you have said and it mirrors my exact thoughts

I wouldn’t consider myself a nerd by any means. Im not a “huge” horror fan, although that is one of the top genre I prefer when it comes to films. As far as Halloween goes, that is just something I grew up watching and loving the most. I just thought Michael Myers was badass, loved the plot of the movie, setting, musical score, everything about that movie got my blood flowing. No other film did it for me like halloween did, I was also into friday the 13th because as a kid it scared the shit out of me, but never was I obsessed with jason…mainly because his face made me sick hence the reason i dont really collect jason busts lol…michael is a different story…it could be anyone literally…and thats why i collect myers stuff. Just a blank face with no emotion.

I will say, if your a huge horror fan, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Just like any hobby, its a hobby afterall. Im into cars bigtime, but I dont call myself a car nerd because there is nothing nerdy about cars…and i dont think there is anything nerdy about being a horror fan. And if you do call yourself a nerd, that is fine too.

I would never call myself a nerd. That’s like saying I’m a dork. I do however consider myself a huge Halloween nut.
