The Sears Tradewear Coveralls are very hard to find and expensive. I heard the Reed 547c coveralls were good, but I can’t find those. I know the Red Kap CT10 are popular and cheap. What is a good, readily available, and inexpensive alternative? I’d love to know your opinion and thoughts. Please include the model number/full title of the coveralls, so I can find the correct one while searching.
Like you said, spruce green CT10s. They’re gonna be the cheapest and most widely available. A lot of folks leave them out in the sun for a few days till the color bleaches a bit and gets a little closer to what we see in the movie
Creepy Customs is your best way to go, the price is more than worth it, especially for accuracy, but the only other option you have is modded Red Kaps by Blackest Eyes FX in Spruce Green that’s faded
I reached out to him last year on a Workrite replica and the price quote was very high. Even more so considering Legion Safety makes it close to perfect for a fraction of the price.
In my opinion vintage Big Macs are your best bet. They pretty darn accurate and can be usually found on ebay for $30-$70 depending. Not a bad price for vintage coveralls that match the movie pair pretty close. I would just find a model that had the single pocket flap and a good color. Here was a pair I used for my H1 cosplay that looked real good.
Those look good. I’d give them a Charcoal Rit dye bath to darken them some and give them a more accurate color as well as make the subtle stitch striping less visible. A good looking set and will be more accurate looking overall.
I think they mean that, while they’re worth their price, they’re not exactly as affordable as other options that can give satisfying results with a bit of work for way less money.
Here’s my 78 replica suit the base is redkaps which I modify by adding the flap and button. I prefer charcoal grey as that’s mainly what I use on these unless specified by customer they’d like something different. My h1v2 suit is $245 shipped that’s fully weathered and everything.
That’s what I was thinking. I cannot for the life of my find the post, but not only did they say they get quoted $450, they proceeded with some Shakespearean dialogue that was like, “when I questioned on his audacity he proceeded to permanently disconnect our communication”, or something like that.
I’d definitely vote Creepy Customs, as well. Unfortunately, I don’t have a pair yet, but soon! Connor’s attention to detail on them is second to none. He knows his stuff and it shows in the production and final product.
For now, I’ve used Reeds for my H1 outfit. These are the charcoal option and have a very similar design to Tradewares, as far as the pockets go. For $40-50 bucks, they do the trick nicely.
