I am looking for a budget friendly costume for Michael Myers this year. I own plenty of Michael Myers masks, some fit well like 2018, H4 and Kills and some are unbelievably huge, H78 & Ends.
I want to be the original 78 Myers or H2 (81) and I’m looking for the best budget screen accurate mask & coveralls for under $300
When I say screen accurate, It does not have to be exact, so more like a near screen accurate, minute details don’t bother me all too much considering i’m a broke college student.
You’re best bet is a TOTS boogeyman. Can look great as H1 or H2 and a rehaul can make it look very screen accurate. If you don’t want to pay for a rehaul you can take a stab at it yourself. It’s a very rewarding process and good hobby to get into. There’s many tutorials online you can look at for reference. But even without a rehaul, stock looks pretty solid. They’re maybe slightly larger than a kills so would be a decent fit. They generally run for $60-$70. For coveralls maybe some red kaps from amazon for around $40. Some vintage coveralls do popup on ebay here and there for cheap. Maybe do a little weathering to them yourself with some paint and sandpaper. For the boots any black workboots get the job done. Obviously if you want a good costume it’ll cost a pretty penny but if your under a budget I think that’s a good start. Here’s my boogeyman I rehauled myself.
for reference what’s your head size? I’ve heard some people say the boogeyman is closer to a 78 or H2 Deluxe 25-26" than a kills? Did you also rehaul yourself
I’ve done one rehaul once, it was on a 2018 and I absolutely butchered the mask! I am awfully afraid to ruin these masks for the pretty price they go for, but maybe I’ll give it a shot!
I own a Sinister Studios s 75, but to me, it didn’t age well for me and I’m not enjoying the mask like
I’m pretty familiar with the coveralls weathering, I’ve done a Kills, Ends, H4, I guess Red Kap is just the budget brand lol. Thank you though! I think this will do!
Thanks man and yeah did this one myself. It’s a lot of trial and error until you kinda get the hang of it so you probably are gonna go through a few masks that don’t look good. I most definitely did, but spending a lot of time on here helped me learn some tips, tricks and techniques for rehauling. I believe my head is around 23 inches. But the boogeyman is definitely more close to the kills in size than the H2 or the 78 by far. They can vary in size a little so maybe trying one on at a spirit halloween or party city is your best bet. I also sell these and other Myers masks on ebay for $150-$200 depending on how well they come out. Working on a boogeyman now so I could sell you one on there too if you don’t mind paying a little extra. But the boogeymans aren’t too hard to do by yourself either. Just a little weathering and some hair styling should do the trick.
One thing about the boogeyman that I recommend doing is messing with the eye cuts.
The sculpt itself has a very round, far apart look to the cuts which looks a bit off, If you cut them a bit wider, it looks like an entirely different mask.
Here’s my rehaul of it for reference
I also gave mine a mouth slit for accuracy although the TOTS pull is too thick compared to an original Don Post pull to give you that stretch, you kinda have to stuff it and it can be annoying to wear like that, but it is an option!
