Best product to prevent Latex mask rot read this!! This is a good tip for eveyone

Hi guys as we all have a passion for keeping our Masks pristine I have the best advice for everyone to keep their masks from rotting.

This is guaranteed.

They should of used this on the Original Don post mask they would still be mint condition today if they had this back then in the 70s and 80s

I have been using this product called 303 Aerospace protectant. It is actually designed for rubber latex and natural rubber. There is no silicone or anything that can rot the mask like Armor all. It basically keeps the suppleness of the mask. I tested it out on a Rubber band half treated and half not treated. I left it out new the window in the sun for a year. The half I treated is still soft and supple the other half crumbled and rot.

What I do is gently spray the mask with a soft mist then use a soft paintbush to wet the whole mask then I left it dry. I then take a soft cotton ball and gently wipe it away. This pvoduct will not make paint come off so don’t worry.

i follow it up with a soft brush of corn starch.

You guys got to try this it is amazing and can even convert rotting masks from further deterioration.

I beleive that if treated with this stuff once a year or once every six months the masks could last a lifetime.

Hope this eases some of you guys worries about our masks down the road rotting.

Fyi Im not endorsing any products at all I just wanted to share this with you guys to make your masks last a lifetime while being displayed not and not stored away.

Thanks,

Thats pretty cool man, thank you for the tip!

Fantastic stuff! Just checked and we have it here in Australia too. Have to get me some of this stuff…

Will have to give it a try someday!

Grreat tip, Ghostrealm

To to sure about spraying stuff on my masks…this is more used for sun rot(drying out from sun)…i know i don’t keep my masks in the sun…is it good for moisture or very dry weather?..thats the problem…

Yes this is for uv protection AND adding moisture back to the mask. This in not the bad kind of moisture. It’s the same kind of moisture when the mask was freshly made. It’s different than armor all crap. That’s silicone. This is something else that more of a plasticizing agent that adds moisture into the latex. This is good stuff.

As far as I know only three things will break down rubber over time:

Oxidation activated by heat (occurs at normal ambient temperature).
Oxidation activated by UV light.
Chemical reaction to ozone, which is different than the oxidation reactions.

I think the only thing that breaks rubber down if it’s stored correctly (out of UV rays and extremes of heat/cold) is oxidation.

So unless the spray prevents ozone break down, I wouldn’t use it as it could cause some other kind of reaction or problem

Surprisingly, the answer doesn’t have to do with water content or water evaporation. The rubber band does not “dry out”. It’s molecular structure changes into a different product/material which “feels dry” because it’s crumbly and brittle. In fact, rubber should be stored in a moderately dry environment.

All I know is it works wonders on masks I’ve applied it to and feels better than new. One mask I bought from someone that was soft and sticky convevted it to being perfect again and made the latex feel thick and snappy like when it was brand new. I would recommend it anyone looking to keep their mask looking new.

Is another good method spraying it on the inside of the mask and wiping it around with a cloth?
