Anybody have any tips on boot weathering, specifically the H40 boots. And is there a certain mixture or way to have red paint stay on the boots? I’m going for a end of movie look.
you can use steel wool or very fine sandpaper like 400 grit to scuff the boots and make them look worn. If you want paint to stay you can use gloss red spraypaint
Take a scrap piece of cardboard spray red paint on it unitl ist runny and soaked, then spray a little black to darken it until you like.
Then use dollar store paintbrushes, use the ones with black plastic bristles, the paint doesnt stick as much then use the brush to fling paint at them for blood, drip some on and get the effect
I just thought of a way to make the blood hcunky and shiny etc
You could use clear silicone caulk mixed with red food colouring for chunks and blood.
I use camping fuel to thin the caulking If you squirt clear silicone caulk into a plastic cup or water bottle,
then pour in the camp fuel to thin it a little stir with a popsicle stick
this way you can mix acryllic paint in the caqulking for the blood different shades of red etc
I dont have any pics people use the silicone caulking for their Jason takes manhattan costumes for the slimy look.
I use this method more to make moulds using the silicone and acryllic paints.
I did use it, not for blood but for the gloves on a Tombs of the blind dead costume to make the grey skeleton hands
same stuff just instead of red paint I used grey, I made Jason pt/7 gloves this way too just clear caulking thinned and mixed with brown acryllic paint.
I can take some pics of those when I get home, buth that doesnt really help thyre brown and grey
this guy shows the basic idea, his channel is where I learned to make the silicone zombie gloves
