I am a moderator on another forum, different subject matter and it’s 18 years or older. I like this place, it has a lot of useful information and at some point I’m sure I will buy a mask from someone here. In the meantime I have to ask… why all the in-fighting? After this last fiasco with the 75 kirk it seems that the lunatics are running the asylum here. Do moderators here hand out infractions for people who misbehave? I see a lot of threads being locked (which is good when it’s back and forth nonsense) and I’m not coming down on younger members, just people who act immature regardless of how old they are.
There is a lot of passion for this hobby, and everyone is here because they are fans, but I think it’s time people started acting a little more civil towards other forum members and also have some more respect for this place in general. Don’t take it for granted, it could go away. I have been here longer than some may think, a few years ago (no I didn’t get kicked out or anything) I just moved a few times and had to re-register.
Healthy debate is one thing, pointless arguing and name calling is something else entirely. I hope at least a few people here think about that and do their own part to avoid negativity and keep this place positive.
bro its been going on like this sense i joined the board…but i will admit it has lightened up a lot a lot a lot!!
yes the mods hand out strikes. and people get banned. but theres gunna still be members here who think the shit doesnt stink and blow up on little things. noone is specific for me cause most people i come in contact with a very good people. every place has there bad ones…people will argue like you stated but i do believe there will be a select few with at home problems or somethings going on and they come here and get mad at little things they see…but from what i have seen they have simmered down quite a bit…hope this helps lol

Yeah the 75 thread was pretty wild. Don’t see that too much round here anymore though. That 75 thread really never got as heated as some I have seen in the past. It was pretty mild actually
Opinions, greedy mask makers, and kids are what have “ruined” this place, in my opinion. I still do love it here but I do miss how this place used to be over 3 years ago when I joined. There was a lot more comradeship back then.
Very true. I wouldn’t put you or Russ or his friend Thomas in with the “kids” I refer to. Some of you younger members conduct yourselves well and some don’t and I’ve stood up for the best of you a few times.
Yeah I seriously dont know and will never understand why people like Drams…Ive heard it from several people on this board at times that they like drama…Why ??..what is the point of constantly fighting with people, ticking people off, and utterly going out of your way to be rude and disrespectful to your fellow man…Life is too damn short to live it that way…I think this board would a much a more enjoyable place to visit if everyone got along…I think Matt said it perfect “There was a lot more comradeship back then”…I wasnt a member then and Matt has a year on me but its gotten worse since ive been here…Now there are a ton a great and friendly members also which IMO weigh out the bad seeds in the bunch…I have a made alot of friends here and have met alot of the boards most polite and respected members…I see alot of these guys at conventions and its always a pleasure…The next time I hope to hang out with them a little more than previous times…I still owe guys that drink by the way LoL …But I tend to do my best to ignore drama queens since they feed off it…Dont fuel the fire and you wont get burned, stay clear and dont give into them…Thats what they want…I ignore those who seem to dislike other members for no reason…I dont like to bad mouth anyone or the works of another artist…I give my opinions but always do it a polite manner and in a constructive fashion…If people could just learn to think before they type it would really help things out on this issue…Go out of your way to be curtious instead of rude and everyone gets along a little bit better…Its just how I see things anyway…Later guys
Very nicely put, there is, and always has been alot of drama, but some people just take things too personally. We are all here to talk about masks, and feed our passion for Myers.
it would be outstanding if we could all get along. Anyone who knows me well enough by know knows im opinionated and willing to voice it but my issue is always in the responce i get. I have nothing but respect for just about everyone here and I plan to keep it that way. Getting along and respecting everyone as a whole would take this place to a whole new direction.
There is not a single person on this board that I have anything personal against. Well, maybe one, but we just leave each other alone. It’s passion when I get into it with someone.
I agree with what you are saying but have a few questions. How large is the forum you are at? How long have you been a moderator and how strict are the warnings carried out at the board you moderate?
The reason I ask is I have been an admin, a co-admin and a global mod (still do this) on a few different sites and when you have a crowd as large as this you cannot possibly expect these things not to pop up.
All forums (or at least one would presume) share members who have a love of the board’s subject matter or else they wouldn’t be a member in the first place. Most people who join the boards also have strong opinions about their passions, why else would they post? When you have a large number of people with strong opinions in one place then of course you will have arguments.
That doesn’t mean there should be so many rude remarks and trolling goin on. Still yet you have to “moderate” how you moderate. As an admin and a co-admin I could/can ban if I see the need for x-amount of time depending on the offense and if/how many times the member has been warned.
The hardest part is doing the balancing act of not under nor OVER moderating. Most of us have been on some boards where a few people with these positions make the board feel like you are in Sunday school. I think the key is to “bend but don’t break” when it comes to moderating and “participate more than dictate”…this comes from experience.
When things get out of line here (for the most part) I think the proper action is carried out. I do think a few bans here and there were warranted but keep in mind that Derek nor the mods can ALWAYS be on here and some things will slip. Still yet I believe a nice “breathable” atmosphere exists and given a growing population the air still isn’t too tainted.
