CASE 102-12 KNIFE

I have acquired another Case 102-12 knife. Here’s a photo of the fifth one I have acquired over the last 20 years. I tried to add a photo but it won’t allow me. I’ll post this and keep trying to add the photo.

When I hit attachments and add files nothing happens. Maybe the photos are too big. I’ll try and make them smaller.

Very cool :myers:

nice!

Indeed.

:+1:t3:

No wonder I can’t find one

These have all been found in estate sales, thousands and thousands of knives have been looked over to find these 5.

Hi all! First time poster and really happy to be here. My son and I were wandering around an antique store in Logan Utah and saw this knife in a random case. It looked pretty close to the Case knife that Michael used so we bought it. The owner obviously didn’t really know (or care) what he had so he sold it to us for $10.

Can you identify what brand you think it might be? The blade has been abused so I cannot identify any marks. Thanks for your help!

I can’t really identify it unfortunately, but it’s a heck of a grab at $10 bucks. It has the right length and does look similar. You might be able to compare photos in the “definitive guide” thread, see if that helps at all.

It’s not a Case knife, it looks like a Pre-Cutco knife

What is a pre-Cutco knife?

It’s a knife made before the Cutco and Son blades

Ok thanks for the input. It sure seems close though doesn’t it? Not suggesting it’s the real deal because you all know better than I. But everything from the handle, the shape of the blade etc. looks pretty similar. I’m sure the collectors here would disagree but to a layman seems damn close.

I’d like to try and restore the blade. It appears a previous owner made a feeble attempt to do so and put scratches on it. If you all know the best way to restore a blade like this I’d any advice you could give. OR, maybe I don’t restore at all and keep it with it’s warts and all.

Leave it as is, the hero knife has scratches on it’s blade, as far as closeness, it’s not really close, but you can get a good template off it

Awesome knife!!! The handle looks very similar to the 102 12" WR Case and Sons, just the last rivet is in the wrong position (your handle matches my WR Case variant). Also really cool that the blade measurement is exact. Are you sure there isn’t any stamps? I have a WR Case and Sons 102 10" variant that has a lot of wear on the blade - so much wear that the ‘102 - 10"’ and ‘X W.R. CASE & SONS CUT. CO BRADFORD, PA’. stamps are barely visible. You can’t even see them in my pictures but they’re there. I would suggest for you to look really close towards the bottom of the blade for a ‘102 - 12"’ and look for the ‘X W.R. CASE & SONS CUT. CO BRADFORD, PA’ stamp towards the middle of the blade near the spine of your knife. Your knife seriously looks like a variation of a Case 102. Sure the holster of the knife is missing but there was clearly one there since you can see a line where it once was.

Have an original Case 102 12 with all the correct markings and measure.ents. is anyone possibly interested? I believe its a 1915 model based on the stamp

I may be, but I also have no idea what they sell for as I’ve never seen one for sale

i"m new to Halloween lore. Is the knife valuable otherwise? Would it hold any value outside the Halloween fandom?
