Some of you may know I have found several Case 102-12 knives over many years that are the exact model used in the 1978 film. I have people on a waitlist that goes back many many many wonderful years and many many many wonderful conversations, even some people from the this forum are on the wait list, but in reality the chance of me ever finding enough exact models used in the film is unlikely.
I have gone through 100s of thousands knives to find these exact models and in that regards I have been lucky for a guy who collects rare art pieces, but it was a privilege to pass them on to collectors who felt so overcome owning one . I don’t consider myself a Halloween fan by any means and compared to how passionate some of the fans are which is really mind blowing to me.
The good news is below.
I have spoken to one of the people I sold a knife to and they are looking to sell finished and unfinished resin copies of the knife. After much discussion, and how rare these knives are to actually find, the person wants to share with the community.
What I can say at this point is.
So far a cast is being made by a professional artist for the purpose of making personal copies so they can put the original knife away for safe keeping.
So if there’s enough interest they’ll go a head and make copies for the public. I don’t know what pricing will be but $100 for an unfinished knife is what they were thinking, I don’t know what a finished knife will cost because an artist will be doing those on a limited basis if this goes ahead.
I’ll be making no money out of this either, I’m sure that’ll make some people happy. I should have been smarter and made castings myself, nah just joking.
I’ll post updates as soon as I know more.
