Does anyone have pics of this from h20?
yikes
It looks so bad its not even funny.
Yea, I remember that scene, and when I saw it, I was like…WTF?
Another example of Hollywood laziness. “We didn’t like the mask we originally had, so we had to go back and change a few things” What a dreadful attempt at a cover up. lol.
Bottom line is, this should have never come to be. You MUST be prepared prior to principal photography. The Halloween franchise has been riddled with this kind of lazy filmmaking. Remember people, these are the same bunch who said… "You know what? pretend Halloween 4, 5, and 6 never happened ok? “pats us on the head” There you go little boy, silly Halloween fans… Pretend 3 movies never happened? LOL. And they call themselves professionals.
Anyway, a bit of a rant there… lol. nonetheless, this was the only point in the film we see the CGI cover up, thank god, but as you can see… eeeeee, ya… ummmm… ya…lol
Where can I buy that mask???
If I remember correctly, wasn’t there a rumor of them even using a DP “The Mask” in a couple shots?
that deff looks like a dp mask
Out of ALL the shots they re-did for that entire movie, could they have not gotten that kid back (Adam Hann-Bird, or whatever his names was) or at least someone that looked like him from behind to reshoot that scene??? I mean, it’s one of the first REAL close-ups of Michael in that movie!!!
“LAZY” doesn’t cut it. I bet they spent just as much money trying to cover it up with the CGI then it would have cost to re-shoot it…In any room, anywhere with a bulletin board and a candle-stick on the wall…
SHEESH
what does cgi stand for anyway?

You can tell KNB’s original design was based off Don Post Studios 1987/88/89 versions of ‘The Mask’. It’s fairly obvious. I know I called and talked to Don about this when I first saw a behind the scenes feature on Entertainment Tonight before the movie premiered.
yea, this scene is too noticable and makes u go “what happened to his face?” when it pops up quicky. however, when I saw it in the theatre Im pretty sure the scene was much darker so it was less noticable. you know how they brighten some scenes for dvd because people couldnt see it too well. I believe that to be one of those instances and when brightened you really notice how bad it looks.
they also applied brightness to Hulk (2003). The whole dog fight scene created a big fuss because it was too dark to see what was going on, so they really brightened it for the dvd version.
I whispered “yikes” under my breath as soon as I saw this screencap, and then scrolled down and saw your comment. This mask is pretty bad.
I think in the 25 years dvd someone did say that a dp “the mask” was used in quite a few shots.
you can clearly tell that the hair in the photo is real, the face has just basically been pasted over the mask itself.
now is it just me, or does the hair look more like the winston hair rather than the knb? if it is, in fact, the winston mask underneath the CGI, why would they have even bothered to do it? wasn’t the point of the CGI to cover up the knb mask rather than reshooting the scene?
I agree , the hair is kind of standing up rather than slicked back like the knb
i think someone should make a replica of this mask…im sure it wont sell
