To start this off: I’m getting more… Adjusted to indie masks, so apologies if some things are incorrect or on the wrong end of things. With this research I’ve done, I think the CGP Warlock is quite a good H2 mask which I think might look nice next to a rehauled Sinister Studios S75. However, I’ve started seeing recent finishes of people who got their Warlock and noted it looks… Different in a not-so-good way. It looks more bloated and less detailed.
I understand the Warlock is simply a stretched out mask to attain the, well, Warlock stretch, but the recent images I’ve seen of it look like the cheeks are way too wide. It might just be a rare one or two case, but I simply don’t think the standard finishes are that good as of recently. I plan on getting one second-hand since they’re about as common as a broken colored pencil in the school’s art room, and if it’s stock I might even try my own hand at rehauling/repainting for the first time if people agree with my thoughts. For anyone who has a new Warlock: Did I see a bad copy, or are you also not satisified with the finish?
Your gonna get many opinions on the warlock but it is one of my favorite H2’s. Be patient and wait for the right one to come up with a finish style you like. Everyone has their own interpretation on what the perfect finish for a mask. I’ve owned two of them, that I got straight from Terry and I was very happy with the finishes on both. This was my blood tears I recently sold. Hope this helps!
Look. I know youre asking about the Warlock. But look into Death Row Masks H2SM. Its the same price, IMO its a gnarlier mask with better finishing. And Rowland has amazing customer service.
Unfortunately Rowland had to raise the price of the H2SM to $350 so now it’s actually $50 more than the Warlock. However, I agree, the H2SM does always seem to have a better finish, and it’s easy to contact Rowland. Even so if OP wants to go with the Warlock he definitely can make a request for his mask to be made a certain way. I’ve seen that Warlocks vary quite a bit, so asking for a more weathered finish or maybe even giving Terry reference photos could definitely help.
Id love another one (Warlock) as well but man Terry has been dodgy lately. Like bad. Flat out telling people “Sorry, just didnt get to it this year” after quoting them 7 months or so.
Yeah that’s just flat out unacceptable. I completely understand if an artist messages me and has a very good reason for not having it done, but just saying you didn’t really get to the thing I paid $300 for is ridiculous. I was thinking about picking up a Warlock because I do like how they look, but it just seems too risky to get one straight from Terry. Maybe I’ll get one second hand some day.
I love the Warlock sculpt just because of the built in stretch. But…and I know this is a Warlock thread, back to the H2SM. That mask is like DEAD on to the H2 mask without the stretch. But thats where having a wider face would make it a legit look. I think on a wider head the H2SM would smoke the Warlock
Wow, this thread has given me good reasons to try an H2SM and a Warlock. However, if I go the Warlock route, it’ll definitely have to be second hand because I was already concerned about Terry’s behavior since I saw a thread somewhere where he was slowly going back to his old behavior. However, whenever I get enough money or if I’m lucky enough to find one a bit cheaper second-hand, it’ll most likely be a H2SM now. Thank you all very much!
When choosing what H2 mask to go with I definitely think the H2SM looks better, but because of my head shape I don’t really give the mask the right stretch so personally for me it’s tough. A big part of deciding is whether you’ll be wearing it or just displaying it.
Definitely more on collecting it since, as much as I love Halloween in both the holiday and franchise, I’m not dressing myself up in a latex mask and coveralls in sub-40 degree weather anytime soon! Albeit the idea of Michael Myers Santa has always seemed like a funny little idea to me, I’ll wait a bit until I lose some of that Thanksgiving weight I put on-
I get it man, where I live it’s starting to be like 10 degrees outside, so there’s no chance I’d even think about going out to take some shots, and the thought of potentially having my sweat eat at the latex makes me apprehensive. But the fact still remains that they are masks, they’re meant to be worn so I think spending hundreds of dollars on a mask, only to have it sit on display for years is pointless, so I may as well thrown it on now and again.
Wow… I really hope you don’t mind me being honest, but it looks like he didn’t even send it to you completely finished. The only place I can see in the picture that looks weathered is the neck. It might just be the photo or lighting, but it also looks like it’s simply painted in flesh tones.
Fair enough, I’ve also done it a few times with my H40 mask since my H6 mask is… To say its seen better days is an understatement. Even if it’s not a rehauled mask, it’s still beautiful in my opinion because it’s what truly got me started in this hobby I’ve always wanted to be part of. Besides, the only masks that should be on Display are those NECA F13 Hockey Masks, those are so uncomfortable and heavy to wear for more than a few minutes or so.
Man if I were you I definitely would’ve contacted Terry and complained a little bit. That looks nothing like what he advertises and honestly is just plain lazy. Already was a bit against ever purchasing directly from him due to his wait times, but now seeing this, how can he take so long and give a paying customer this unfinished mask? Unacceptable.
This is when the Warlock first came out right? Looks like an original run with the tag from 2005? I think he’s gotten better with his paint jobs now. Here’s my blood tears I got straight from Terry a few months back.
