The coveralls I own were originally green, but by the time the weathering was applied and the pictures taken it looks more bluish charcoal than anything else. I love the way the pics turn out.
When I watch the movie, I see charcoal color. But then again I found some pics online that show other wise, everything from navy, and spruce. Here’s some pics, what do you guys see?
This may sound crazy, but were there 2 coveralls used? I know lighting can portray them differently of course… The school yard scene they do look like the H2 coveralls and the rest have a blue/ charcoal look. Hell the school yard scene was a stunt mask! Stunt coveralls?
…benn7
I said that the other day in the facebook group but no one paid it any attention lol, i believe two different pair were quite possibly used aswell, the colors vary drastically different in daylight shots for it to have been one pair i think.
all this time people have been arguing about the color and probably more than one pair was used
Yep, and it would make sense, they used more than one mask to make the entire movie so why not more than one pair of coveralls, and the fact everyone who portrayed Myers was different sized.
Rewatching the movie on vhs and on hd blu ray and with the pics I posted I firmly believe that there were two different pair. The pics I posted on here show the light coming threw the kitchen window as bright white color not blue, when the light hits the coveralls it seems to lighten the shade of the coveralls but they still look like they are a navy color, but in the pic were he on the ground they look more like a dirty charcoal color. I guess it’s up each person on what they see with their own 2 eyes.
It’s quite possible that there were at least two pair used…even a different color. Who knows? I mean, I don’t know, if there were stunt masks used then what was to stop Carpenter from using another pair of coveralls? Spruce green couldn’t have been the color, though.
I bought a pair of spruce green Big Macs a few years back, and there’s a recent pic of me in a GD thread wearing them fresh and untouched back in '09. The original spruce green color wasn’t even close, but I only bought the spruce greens because the olivewood color wasn’t around anymore. I had to dye and weather the crap outta them to get them to look like the still shot of him lying on his back in front of the closet. They look nearly identical to that shot during the day and even more so at night. I love 'em now.
If I had to choose between charcoal or spruce, I wouldn’t choose either of them. I’d go with the nastiest weathered set of of olivewoods or a well worn, dirty set of navy Big Macs. The more I see Halloween, the more those two colors stand out…and I have yet to see it on Blu-Ray.
Hey there guys just found a guy selling this on ebay, for 25 dollars, 1975 navy blue big macs. What do u think are these the kind they had in 78 Halloween? Let me know what u guys think.
That’s the video I posted a while back of me in my TOTS H2 mask and a pair of spruce green coveralls. Though if you look carefully they actually look like a dark navy colour.
That , in my opinion, is why the coveralls in H1 look different though out the film. Not because they used more than one pair, but more because the lighting created the illusion of them being different colours… If that makes sense haha!
Though like i say thats just my opinion, might be right , might be wrong, who knows!
This topic definitely makes for a good debate though
This 1st pic is me wearing my original spruce green Big Macs a few years back, indoors, and under normal light. This is the original color before I dyed and weathered them, and I still don’t believe that they could’ve used this original spruce green color in the school scene or the over-the-shoulder scene without either first dyeing & weathering the crap out of the color, or just plain using the olivewood Big Macs.
Regular sunlight, no sunlight, lighting, or no lighting effects…the spruce color isn’t even close to the color shown in the school scene, which I still believe was a very haggard and soiled olivewood. I don’t thing Carpenter would’ve wasted the time dyeing spruce green Big Macs when he could’ve just obtained a set of olivewoods, back when they were still available, and weathered them up. Or, he could’ve just found a set of olivewoods which were already weathered enough and used them. Even if it was possible, I think it would take years without dyeing for a set of spruce Big Macs to weather up to the color people saw in the daytime scenes; however, I don’t think it would take that long for a set of olivewoods to weather up like that.
All the following pics afterwards are of my same spruce green Big Macs, but this time dyed and weathered. None of the photos were edited for color. The pics were taken with a regular point & shoot camera during the day, some taken minutes apart, some taken up close and farther away, and some on different days…all under natural sunlight, with one pic taken at night. You can see how the Big Macs look throughout. They look green-ish, charcoal-ish, olive, faded & darker in some, and maybe a little of all three in others. I tried to get them to look the best that I could as they looked in the movie during the daylight scenes…I think I did a pretty decent job.
I also wanted them that color, because that’s how I first saw them during the daytime scenes. Whether or not they went with different color Big Macs like navy or spruce green for the night scenes didn’t matter to me, because as a viewer, I always envisioned him going throughout the rest of the movie wearing the haggard green-ish, olive, charcoal-ish Big Macs.
^^Thanks dude. If you haven’t already seen TheShape1188’s work on his coveralls, then you should check that dude out. His color & weathering is spot on, and if I would’ve known he weathered coveralls before I did mine, then I would’ve sent mine to him a long time ago. It was still fun to do, though.
