Chris is NOT a recaster and most definitely NOT a scammer. These claims were all completely overblown and misinterpreted back in the day, and for some reason people STILL buy into this complete and utter nonsense. There are two sides to every story. Chris is very open about the origins of his masks, and has never “recasted” a mask he did not own the master to or have rights to reproduce. He is a stand-up businessman who exceeds in customer service in addition to being one hell of an artist. I personally love my GKY, and have a Seven on the way. I’d highly recommend him for any mask work.
Agree as well. I’ll also note that Chris goes into minute detail about the origins of all of his masks on his podcast. His show may not be for everyone—he’d probably be the first to tell you that as well—but I have learned a ton about the history of the hobby listening to him.
I was told that back in the day, one artist claimed that Chris got a master from him, and did not make the payment. As a result, a heat war started between this company and WMP, and people are siding. It turned toxic pretty quickly and people left. But I have a friend who told em this was bs and Chris actually paid the dude, and the other artist just wants to ruin one’s reputation.
I don’t want to say who this artist is though. This has been a thing of the past, and they both moved on.
Apparently Chris bought the Master from a different guy who never paid the original artist. Chris even offered to pay the original artist what the second owner never did but the original artist wouldn’t accept payment and instead wanted Chris to destroy the molds, which he did to try to make peace but unfortunately Chris still gets a bad reputation.
