Kinda surprised they just don’t use a more renowned maker of Myers masks, NAG, Handiboy, someone that specializes in THE mask. Not that these guys aren’t qualified to do it, just hope its not going to look generic and or goofy.
Good to know who to hate if they pull an H5 on us again.
I have a bad feeling about this. Even Lucasfilm used a fan-made R2 in The Force Awakens because it was so well-made. Seems they should be going with the fan sculptors for this.

Considering their track record and what I’ve seen on Instagram, I’m sold. These guys are the ones that brought twisty the clown to life, and AHS has some of the best FX.
These guys also already have a relationship with Trick Or Treat Studios so we have an even better chance of getting a kick ass mass produced version of this mask.
They’re definitely fantastic artists but this is an extremely hard likeness to pull off especially if you’re not a fan. We’ve seen KNB and Stan Winston studios fail at it and even Steve Wang. I’m still cautiously optimistic since they’re putting in a lot of effort to make this like the original, I guess time will tell.

Why they don’t just pick up a couple of Nightmare blanks from Nik and send them off to JC is totally beyond me. It just goes to show that people in high places don’t always know best. This is a perfect example of that. If they screw this up, they should be punished severely.
Are they even allowed to use the Kirk likeness?

I have faith that they will deliver, the amount of things they are doing right at this point leads me to believe they know we want a kirk looking mask,like the og.
The fact that they got Nick back makes me think they will make it as close as they can.
That being said…IF they mess the mask up,it will cheapen this whole reunion quite severly. You can’t get John,Jamie,and Nick back then half ass the look of Michael…it has to be a solid continuation based off the first film for this in my mind to feel “right”.
I love H4,but just imagine how much better it would be with Michael looking closer to how he did in H1 or even H2. That is the look we need. (Imo. Of course.)
Since trick or treat studios has control over the Kirk and is releasing that mask and masks that closely resemble the original, then they shouldn’t have a problem getting it to look pretty close. The worst they could do is use the same mask from stranger things. Which wouldn’t be horrible.
I’m assuming TOTS has the rights to both:
- Release a mask marketed as ‘Star Trek’s Captain Kirk’. Possibly regardless of how it actually looks.
- Release mass-market versions of whatever comes out of the 2018 film (vaguely recall reading somewhere they had the license).
(On a side note: Does anyone have legal ownership of the DPS 75 Kirk likeness? Presumably Paper Magic Group inherited the IP and all mask designs when they bought DPS. I expect TOTS had to do a bit of negotiation to secure both the Kirk name and the use of a descendant of the original mold)
Just use a Nag nightmare. Its the closest most accurate mask In my opinion.
Here’s an old but great interview with Nelson. He’s done some great work, worked with legends in the business, and seems to be just what we need for the new mask and movie.
Time will tell, of course…
