Just got this beauty in the mail today! Super pumped about it made from all aluminum by CK costumes H78 case 102-12 knife replica. This guy did excellent work on this and was very timely in the process and the shipping super stoked to add this prop knife to my collection. Took a picture of it beside the tots 78 knife replica as well.
Thats real nice. Great score
Thanks brother The price was right too. I think like 165 bucks all said and done. Planning to polish out the aluminum and mirror it slightly. Not to the extreme of the tots resin knife but rather just enough to make it look a little more accurate.
I think thats a very fair price. You should repost once you have worked on it, would be good to see the difference.
The photo with the red felt in the background is the original picture from the seller’s purchase page. Very nice piece for the price. As I had mentioned before I am polishing up this piece to mirror the finish to give it more the look of steel. The other pictures are just to show what can be achieved through 1500 grit wet sanding and some good coarse cut rubbing compound. I particularly used McGuire’s ultra cut compound to polish this out. Now obviously there is different lighting and that being said the after photos are not the finished job. I plan to go as fine as 4000 grit minimum or finer before I stop the wet sanding process stepping down to finer grits from 1500 grit slowly and once I’ve hit 4,000 grit or finer then I will begin polishing it with a buffing wheel using McGuire’s ultra cut compound to start it and McGuire’s ultra finishing compound for the finish. When it’s done there shouldn’t be sand scratches visible or if there are they won’t be seen easily due to the mirrored finish. You can definitely tell the difference already. Soon as I get around to finishing it I will post a series of before and after photos.
Be good to see the final product
