Agreed. The angry expression is definitely something that makes the RZ mask scary. I would also add in that Justin’s Butcher and Maniac masks likewise uses the same effect to add a meaner look to Myers.
Well, with the Castle Stretch out of the way, I’d say that, for the other two masks, if we’re going by this train of thought… the RZ1 mask’s agedness works to its best. It’s grungy, it’s dingy, and it honestly looks more like true rotted latex with the cracks in it than the H40. Though I love the H40 regardless. If you could take the traits from both of those, and almost merge them together, I think it would be iconic. Alternatively, going for a truly realistic rotting based off the '78 hero would honestly be best in that sense.
I do agree, though, that the slightly “angry” contraction of that brow on the RZ1 is top notch. It’s subtle, but it implies that darkness a little better. It doesn’t need to be too noticeable. More like… a “neutral” kind of angry. Resting assholeface, almost. For the H40, I’d honestly say that the hair and the coloration of the mask are the best traits to take from it. It looks grimey and nasty, and all sorts of ick, especially if you go for painting over the texture of an H40 paint like Se7enSiNs does sometimes: it adds a real grimeyness. This is taken to the extreme in Halloween Ends. Sooooo… take it as this:
The hair and griminess of the H40, the neutrally-angry brow contraction from RZ1, and either a merger of the two for the aged look, or going for rotting based primarily off of the hero '78.
Honestly now im kinda thinking about just making a clean and an aged version, but yeah, you are totally on the right path, i will probably try to make the aged version have attributes of the RZ, H40 and 78 hero combined.
Btw, the way the aged heros mouth is wide open is really cool to me for some reason
I’m more of a fan about how the mouth almost collapses on itself. As for a clean version, yeah. Just take the centermost traits: H40 hair (though obviously maybe use the Flashback’s hair for that), RZ eyebrows and vague pseudo-smile, Castle Stretch.
ok, i guess the last thing we gotta chose is the specific characteristic for the H2 mask, i know its the same mask as the H78, but its diferent enough to be its own thing.
for me, my favorite thing about it is the eyes, because the mask is so stretched to the sides, they look a bit more closed and serious, and and with the right lighting they just look really fucking evil and intimidating lol!
I think that’s an amazing characteristic as well…but as I have aged along with Michaels mask and all its glory, I’ve grown to appreciate it in all its states. Worn, on display, behind the scenes. It always looks different and that’s what makes it special. It depends on lighting, the person wearing it, etc. I love it now any way I see it.
Well, I wasn’t thinking that big, but it sounds interesting, idk, if the final drawing turn out sick, maybe! What’s your favorite characteristic of the h2 mask btw?
I like the slightly opened mouth expression from H1 that gives the mask kind of a “surprised” look
I can’t really think of anything from h2 out of the top of my head, I like some of the unintentional weathering the mask has
RZ definitely the angry espression although I believe it’s at it’s absolute limit, cause a good myers mask should definitely still have that blank stare look
What I really like about the H40 are the cheeks, they are more pronounced and look very good especially from side angles
What I like about the RZ base sculpt (as in, the clean mask) is how it holds this quiet rage in its expression. It’s placid yet angry at the same time. It strikes a good balance between Michael’s calmness and rage, and like the original, seems to change expression depending on the lighting…
Agreed! The prominent cheeks give the mask a skull like appearance, and it’s one of the things that attracted me to replicas like the NAG H78.
