Controversial Opinions

Its been a while since I posted a thread so I decided that I’d make one about controversial opinions, meaning that if you have an opinion about the franchise that you think most people don’t agree with, post it here! Let’s play. Heres mine:

(NOTE: I’m a HUGE fan of Rob Zombie’s movies so theres going to be a lot of of opinions from these movies from me)

  1. RZ’s H2 is the 2nd best Halloween film (behind the original)
  2. Tyler Mane is the best Michael Myers
  3. Danielle Harris is better as Annie in H107 than she was as Jamie in H4.
  4. H209 is best left WITHOUT the Halloween theme, it would ruin the feel
  5. The producers cut of Halloween 6 is awful with the exception of the ending.

Ok, thats all mine
Also, don’t hate on people for their opinions. Post away!

Yeah i wish T***s would back the fu off with there Mission on putting Artists off the map so they can make us purchase there pathetic * so they can make more Billions than they already have, im sorry but its really Getting to me with these Guy’s…here’s some advice sell the Franchise to someone who really “Cares” about the Direction its going and not what it can make in Profitability.

i’ll first spin off your opinions DHangle…

i think RZ H2 is the 4th best in the series but i do feel it could have benefited from the theme…and Tyler Mane is the 2nd best Myers we have had.

secondly i feel there was too big of a difference from the Castle Myers to the Warlock Myers (mask stretch/overall look) to have picked up on the same night.
i mean what the hell was Nick Castle doing in 81 anyway?

I agree with this but some people overlook this for the simple fact Dick was Great as the shape aswell, but when i watched it for the first time i was the same thinking he’s turned into a robot just didn’t flow as well on screen as Nick did, Dick did give him that more unhumanly side and we can all make the assumption of well he fell from a balcony and was shot 6 times and that added to the style Dick portrayed as the shape but as you say the difference was unmistakeable considering it all took place on the same night.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I do agree that Rob Zombie’s 2 films are Amazing, But unfortunately its NOT his 2 Halloween movies those are 2 of the worst films I have seen in a VERY long time, Absolute trash IMO.
House of 1000 corpses, and The Devils rejects, are 2 of the best Horror films I have seen In MANY, MANY, MANY years, Since the 80’s really.
2 genre Masterpieces.
Jamie

Here’s my controversial opinions:
With the exception of the direction given to him to keep the knife raised at chest height, (and the obvious mask) Don Shanks was the third best actor to take on the Shape.
Remakes can certainly tarnish the films they ripped off, and the Halloween remakes are no exception. They were pointless and unnecessary.
The music in the second film (1981) is the best in the series. The music in Resurrection was the worst.
Whenever I speak of the Halloween films, I never even consider Zombies takes on them.

Wow this is a controversial thread. I think it’s a good idea though. Let’s people talk without getting a thread locked or messing up someone’s post. People are so afraid to say things sometimes because they are going to get hated by anyone else who doesn’t share that oppinion. Well here are some of mine and these are ONLY my oppinions…I do NOT speak for anyone else.
Nick

1. Dick Warlock Aka “Mr. Warlock” was a good Myers, but I think he’s way overrated and I would have much more preffered the return of Nick Castle.
2. I’m a HUGE RZ fan, but H2 might as well have been another installment in the Devi’s Rejects franchise. It had NOTHING to do with Halloween. Since when did Haddonfield become white trash county??
3. I liked the F13 remake
4. I don’t believe the coveralls were navy blue in H1, I think they were charcol or dark olive green
5. After the original H2, I think the Halloween movies were terrible and the masks were just as terrible with the exception of H20
6. I thought it was way cooler to have Han Solo shoot Greedo first
7. George Lucas put’s too many muppetts in his movies
8. Escape From New York (Not LA) is Carpenter’s best movie and soundtrack EVER!

1.All Halloween movies from 4-Resurrection were terrible and all made simply for the sake of money.Creativity took a back seat in the first couple and did not exist in the last couple.

2.Rob Zombie’s films…yes, both of them…were hands down the best thing to happen to the Halloween name since 1981’s Halloween II.

3.Tyler Mane is AS GREAT a Myers as Castle or Warlock.Just a different posturing and look.

4.We will never know the actual color of the coveralls in H1,H2.All parties involved have something different to say and they even seem unsure about their answer.

5.People want the same thing over and over again from a Halloween film. They do not want to see originality in the story or variation in the Myers character. That is where the hatred towards the Zombie films comes from.Who says Michael has to be one way or the other?Sure, the first idea of him being from an average middle-class family and snapping is more terrifying, but that was done already. Why not see something different?

6.All of the horror genre’s iconic slashers are inferior characters to the original Michael Myers.

here are my narrow minded opinions

  1. RZ’s reboots was like spitting in the face of john carpenter. the only thing good about them was getting to see danielle harris partitally nude
  2. series should have ended at halloween II
  3. halloween III is one of the most atmospheric movies ever made.
  4. h6 producers cut would have given new life to the franchise
  5. laurie strode is not dead
  6. a 75k or h78 worked on by JC will always be the ultimate replica mask
  1. My preference is for myers to have dark navy blue coveralls.
  2. rob zombies halloweens couldve been much better without the over the top f bombs and excessive blod and guts splattering all over the place.
  3. Malcom Mcdowell sucked as loomis. I wouldve picked ben kingsley to play loomis in the remakes.
  4. the original story line shouldve ended with myers getting his head chopped off at the end of h20.
  5. I think some masks that are being made are overhyped and overpriced.
  6. Wmp is the best thing to hit the mask community in a long time
  7. i dont care for the h5 mask or the movie itself.

Great thread.
1)I liked RZ H2
2) I watch Halloween 2 more then Halloween 1
3) Halloween is not Carpenters best film
4) All the masks other then H1/H2, H6, H20 and RZ H1/H2 look like crap.
5) I HATE the H4 mask with a passion.
6) I like H5
7) Just because you like someone that played the shape doesn’t mean they are a god. Just an actor or stunt man getting paid.
8 )Most importantly…MASK MAKERS AREN"T YOUR FRIENDS. You may think so but they just want your money. You stop buying and they’ll stop calling. May not be in all cases but for the most part it’s a fact.

Indeed a great thread! Well…here goes.
1 RZs H2 was not only the worst Halloween movie it was the worst movie of all time.
2 George Wilbur was the worst Myers.
3 RZs H2 was so bad I kept contemplating turning it off but thought it would get better. It did in fact when the credits rolled at the end.
4 When I finished RZs H2 i packaged it back up and returned it for a full refund. The only movie I ever returned.
5 The mask in H5 was the worst
6 Nick Castle was by far the best Myers and proved that “size matters not”

Agreed, very good thread. Keeps things real.

I am a fan of the first Rz Halloween. I liked how Tyler portrayed Micheal.

As 4 RZ H2. . . . .lets just say I havent watched it again since I saw it in theaters. Mask okay. Story embarrassingly Awful. :vom:

As THE OG Halloween 2 I think Dick did a good job as The shape just a little too robotic. Needed that human aspect to the force of the shape that Castle captured. IMHO after h2 the men who played my myers were just off.

As 4 the coveralls color in H1.
10000000000000000000000000% Greyish green. So a really weathered faded spruce if u will. Heard it directly from Tommy Lee Wallaces mouth. Also after tinting my Charcoal big macs green they are spot on.

The H1 H2 mask situation i’d go with a 75k by jc or anything he touches and justins creep. Both capture the movie the best. H4 ehh
H5 is just. . . not myers to me with a bald mullet n triangle shaped eyes. H6 was the second best after h1 h2. H20 was ok as well. But awfuly portrayed.

Thats my opinion.

ZOMBIE is an excellent director, but nothing beats the original . Now with that said, Tyler was the epitome, of in my opinion what the shape should be, a HUGE motherf__ker ready to destroy anyone at anytime. Couldn’t think of a better actor. H2 had an awful story line but Zombie really brought the human aspect to the shape the mask kept getting more and more decayed he didnt have a brand new mask the next film and thats what I like the most, Now dont get me wrong I love all the different masks but I gotta say Kirk and RZ versions were MY FAVORITES P.S. HATTED THE RETURN #4 MASK,Don’t Be Hatin

  1. The Halloween series should have ended with Halloween II. H1 and H2 are a complete story and there was really nothing to tell after that.
  2. Rob Zombie’s Halloween series is not about Michael Myers, but some redneck juggernaut with mommy issues and he should have just invented a new character rather than pillage the good name of the Halloween franchise.
  3. Thats all I got.

The guy just said what needed to be said !!!

  1. RZ’ H 2 sucked more than a Hoover vacuum Cleaner!!!
  2. The F’bomb was said at least 1000 more times than needed in RZ’s halloween films!
  3. Sheri moon Zombie sucks as an actress. She needs to be Marge Simpsons voiceover that way we cant see how bad of an actress she is!
  4. Sheri moon Zombie is hot… But I repeat she sucks acting!!
  5. white Zombie was the best thing thats ever happened to Rob. Ever since he has sucked…

…How is WMP the best thing to hit the mask community (myers.net)…it’s a recasting company
where Chris takes other artists work & acts like it’s his own…?

Hows that the best thing to happen to the mask collecting community … ?

How about Justin, James, Sam, Nick, Tommy, Scott, Jaime,Andrew, the real artists that bring us
all these amazing pieces, that is their OWN. I apologize if forgetting any others, but there is many other artists
out there that are worthy of being the best thing to hit this community in a long time…

Just my opinion. This is what the threads about.

My controversial opinions…

Moustapha Akkad did NOT believe in Halloween and nothing “clicked” when her heard of the word “babysitter”. It was a matter of pride when he was backed into a corner as whether he had the money or not as Irwin Yablan’s has stated.

Don Post Studios did make one mask for 1978’s Halloween and the mask was used in the movie.

The theatrical version of 1981’s Halloween II sucks compared to Rick’s filmed version of the John Carpenter Debra Hill script, shame on you John Carpenter for messing with it.

Halloween III Season of the Witch is the most original story of the entire Halloween franchise/series.

After Moustapha Akkad took over the franchise/series the stories, films got progressively worse.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween II was a breath of fresh air in the Halloween franchise/series; I enjoyed it very much.

Even if John Carpenter came back to the franchise/series his attempt at a new Halloween would suck; John Carpenter is not the same person he was back in the late 70’s early 80’s. John is far too cynical now.
