I found this pair of Red Wing boots at a vintage store in L.A. I wanted a really used, worn pair to convert into a nice looking Rob Zombie Myers boot. The task is INCREASINGLY much more difficult when you’re looking for size 13. Though, it is nice I’m only a single size away from Tyler Mane’s boot size. Anyway, I had these taken to a place called Chambers in L.A. to have dyed and rid of the cherry wood coloring the boots currently had. Instead, I picked up the boots looking CLEANER and NEWER than before! Aghh! I suppose my 4 reference photos from the screen used weren’t clear enough. Anyway, I’d like to deglaze the boots, dye them carolina color, then stain brown, then black. I too have access to an airbrush. Has anyone converted a boot to look as rotted and worn as the Zombie Myers style boots? I need help! What do you guys think?

Haha, what about leaving 'em on a busy highway for a few hours, or tying them to the back of your car and drive around all day? Give them to a crazy dog or something? Then you could maybe beat 'em with a hammer, or a giant meat tenderizer and use some sand paper or a wire brush…afterwards throwing mud, dirt, or charcoal dust on them. There’s lots of cool, innovative ways to totally F these up!
OwieBo,
What an incredibly fun and lively response to my mission. Thanks bro! I want these looking H2 style – really F-ed up! I’ll post the results here.
A phone-photo of my finished RZ style boots. Completely re dyed, airbrushed, and heavily distressed and weathered. The ankle padding has too been ripped and punctured. These shoes overall were converted to more so match the boots worn in the sequel (as I felt the pattern and shape of the shoe matched the H2 more correctly). Plus, I personally love the more aged and dirtier look.

That’s pretty good work! ![]()
Well done my friend!*
