Alright, so my current costume is a pair of olive-wood Dickies coveralls, Carolina work boots, and the official licensed Halloween 2 mask by Trick or Treat Studios. The props I have at my disposal as of now are the liscensed Halloween 2 scalpel and the knife by trick or treat studios. Every year, I look to build my costume bit by bit, and I would like to ask, currently, on which mask you all think would be creepiest for a 5’ 10.5" average build guy: the Cemetery Gate Productions Warlock or the Nightowl Creep; furthermore, which coverall brand (aside from Big Macs) would you recommend for either an H1 or H2 costume? I would ask about other horror character costumes and where I can get good, screen-accurate props and masks, if this weren’t a thread for my own costume of “The Shape.”
If you’re going to order brand new coveralls and weather them yourself, personally I would go witg red kaps in either spruce green or charcoal grey. The mask all depends on which film and look you could pull off best. If you plan on ordering a warlock (which would be awesome!) I would study the face structure of his and compare to you…or stuffing the mask can always be an option for a proper fit! Hope this somewhat helps. Ive been doing alot of research myself and am new to the site!
I would say based on your body type and height you could easily pull off the H1 or H2 look. As for the mask, I would say that would depend on a couple things, your personal preference, or your face shape. If your face is wide like dick warlock, go with the warlock H2 mask, if it’s narrow and long like Nick castle, go with the creep. And for the coveralls, if you’re not after big Macs, I would recommend either the red kaps or the reeds coveralls in spruce green for H2, navy or charcoal for H1. Also, this isn’t necessarily required, but for a true screen accurate look, the H2 coveralls should fit more tightly and have shorter leg length to get the high waters look. And H1 should be loose but a good fit.
Thank you for the advice on coveralls and mask. Really helps. ^^
No problem man, glad to help!
If you want this mask my Halloween… CGP Warlock would be much easier to find and receive. If you ordered a creep, you would for sure not receive it by Halloween
I don’t plan to get one of the masks before Halloween. I expect to use it next year though.
I’ll still probably require help figuring out the costs for a Creep, given that I’ve got a fairly narrow face (Don’t have Castle’s square jaw, unfortunately)…how much do they usually average out for?
A NO Creep will cost you $335 with shipping. Not bad, as it’s a very nice mask.
Even with requested modifications, such as a needlehole? And tell me: does the hair stay in place like in the movie’s version?
I’ve never personally ordered from Nightowl but I’ve owned a shat and have a Creep now. I wouldn’t think just adding a needle hole would cost you any extra, but not totally sure. As far as the hair, you will probably have to style it yourself to your liking. May require some hair product to keep it in place though. Hope this helps!
I’ll move any more questions about the Creep to another thread. Thank you for your help in regards to the Creep. Now, do I need any extra height, or am I fine to be a to-scale Michael with my natural height (not including the Carolina boots, which probably boost me a quarter or half an inch).
I’d say you’re at the perfect height, my friend.
Nick & Dick aren’t very big guys, so you’re right in the ballpark.
Alright then. Thanks. I think that most, if not all of my questions have been answered. Still have some questions for Creep owners, but that’ll be for another thread. Thanks for the help. ^^
John Carpenter’s HalloweeN
-
COVERALLS : Preferably Big Mac coveralls which can be acquired on Ebay, but if not REED coveralls, they have the elastic on the back and pocket flap, available in Spruce Green and Charcoal depending on what you want for your coveralls, only on your last resort would I use Red Kaps. Weathering them is simple, use a sand block to fray down the pockets, sleeves and etc then use watered down black acrylic to put grease stains and if you want to be really picky, use scissors to make the holes seen in the film. (Like I did to my Big Macs.)
-
BOOTS : Preferably VINTAGE Vietnam era jungle boots with a vibram sole, or if not just jungle boots with a vibram sole, only on last resort would I purchase modern boots that lack the vibram sole, here don’t require any weathering unless you want to soak them in mud and beat them a bit.
-
MASK : There is a variety of choices here, but I’d recommend the Nightowl CREEP, which I own. It’s a fantastic mask and worth the four month wait, just give Justin your specifics like size, hair and paint job and you’ll end up with a great snug piece which is not loose and tight enough to re-create that castle stretch.
-
SHIRT : A simple black shirt with a round collar, no V-neck.
-
KNIFE : The TOTS H2 is a simple and safe alternative, but if you want something real menacing and accurate, I’d recommend contacting Tim Miller of Dirtknap FX on Facebook, he makes a killer Lamson replica of which I own one, entirely recommended.
TOTAL COST : Roughly 550 - 600 dollars. (Same price I paid for mine.)
HalloweeN II
-
COVERALLS : Preferably Sears Leisure / ROEBUCKS coveralls that can be acquired on Ebay, but if not REED coveralls which are even more accurate to the H2 then they are H1, having the pocket flap, snap neck and more tight fit as seen in HalloweeN II. Again, as a last resort I’d use Red Kaps, but in no other case. Unlike the H1 coveralls, the confirmed color of H2 is Spruce Green, and as I said before REEDS and Kaps can easily be acquired in Spruce Green on Ebay or Amazon. The weathering is the same as H1, but a little more extreme, extra fraying on the pockets, cuffs and other areas along with the watered acrylic or spray paint grease stains, I’d also attempt to wrinkle the coveralls as well. The major difference however is the addition of bullet holes, to get accurate positioning I’d look at screenshots of Warlock in costume and use a sharpie to draw the holes in accurate places. After cutting the holes out, I’d use a good blood product like perma-blood to apply the stains, giving it that really wet look, but if not you can always use red acrylic and use gloss to give it the wet look.
-
BOOTS : The boots used in H2 were Redwing Loggers, these can easily be required on Ebay but are somewhat expensive, but do not fear, there are very similar looking boots as well that ere often just called Loggers of various brands, not exact but they look almost identical usually.
-
MASK : Like the H1, there are a lot of choices, but I’d recommend the Warlock by CGP since it has that nice accurate Dick Warlock stretch and look to it. Like Nightowl, you can tell Terry Lambert at CGP your exact specifications to get the mask you want in size and look, for finishing, I’d recommend a grungy look with auburn hair, but in the end it depends on what you want and what you see in the H2 mask.
-
SHIRT : The shirt in H2 was a dark green round collar shirt, no V-neck.
-
WEAPON : Depending on what you want in terms of accuracy. you could use the Elrod or scalpel from H2, if you’re going with the scalpel, I’d just use the TOTS since JC, the only guy who makes a great replica and safe scalpel, is very busy at the moment. but if you’re going with the Elrod for a more menacing look, I’d again recommend Tim Miller at Dirtknap FX who makes a sweet Elrod replica for the same priced quality as his Lamson.
TOTAL COST : 505 - 580. (An estimate since I’m currently building my H2.)
Hope I helped!
