Coverall sizes

Hey guys,

So i recently ordered a pair of Red Kap coveralls, and figured out my size waist wise (46), and there seems to only be two options for sizes of length - normal and long. I went with normal, as I am around 5’11. The coveralls arrived the other day and they’re suuuuuuper long, i’d say a good 3-4 inches long on me. Any suggestions on what i should do? Should i return them and ask them to customize my size (if that’s even possible?) Thanks for the help!

That’s odd, I am 5’10”, 180 lbs. and got the 46R and they fit perfectly. If you reach out I’m sure they’ll be able to fix your issue

Some coverall company’s offer short versions. But in all honesty your better off having them hemmed up by a local tailor or posting about it on Facebook. Someone on your friends list should know how to hem.

by the way is it normal that these coveralls have much larger legs than the upper part?

There should be a bit of a stack at the leg opening. That’s normal.

The more important question - where does the crotch sit? if it’s well positioned, I’d recommend taking them to your local dry cleaner for a quick hem.

What do you mean? “larger” has a number of connotations than make it difficult to answer your question.

Can you describe the fit of your coveralls? Are the legs too long?

I mean this, while from the front and the rear it could look just fine, you can clearly see arms and legs are baggy in the profile picture.

You can’t imagine how hard it is to find a coverall close to the real thing in Europe, and when you do finding the right size for you is even harder, before this Dickies I got another brand from Amazon, size 50 was way too large that I could navigate inside it, so I changed it for a 44, and it was tight enough to hurt my neck after a few minutes, but legs and arms were perfect, sent it back again then I found this pair of dickies that I got today which is an early 48T (tall) 118 cm (the 44 I sent back was 112 cm so I thought 118 would be fine), but still this Dickies 48T feel right in the chest and shoulder, but the rest is kinda larger, a 46 would perfect for me but it’s nowhere to be find with a color that could work (like charcoal, Spruce or Navy Blue). Tell me what you think, but I’ll surely turn to a Taylor and see how much this one can be fixed, it surely needs a hem.

If you need a couple of inches taken off of the length don’t go to a tailor who will charge a lot, do this. Most dry cleaners will do simple repairs to clothes like putting buttons back on or repairing tears. Just take a tape measurer and determine how many inches you want taken off. Take them to a dry cleaner and tell them how many inches you want taken off of the legs and sleeves and that these are work clothes so do it as cheaply as possible. It doesn’t need to be double stitched just as basic as possible. I did that with some pants I use for hiking and they only charged me $12 and did it the same day. Its much easier than sending them back or getting new ones.

Well my mom is an amateur taylor, she said she can easily fix it for free  which is great cause that particular size at that specific day on Amazon it only cost me 10 bucks lol, if I wanted to send it back for a smaller size it’d be 50 bucks and most likely feel tight on my shoulders, there doesn’t seem to be a perfect size really, you still need a minor mod and customization at the end of the day, to eliminate in my case that clowny effect.

Do you guys wear pants under the coverall?

Yeah I do, sometimes i wear shorts if it’s gonna be hot but usually I use jeans.
