After a few years of wanting to do a Meyers mask, I finally picked up a TOT 78. I plan to do a rehaul on it. As far as the hair goes, I read mixed things. I read it was synthetic.
I started styling it a bit, assuming I would be replacing it with mohair anyway. However, after trying to get the poof down a bit, I had some fibers coming out and as a test, I balled up a bit of it and put a flame to it. It does not appear to be synthetic. Flame goes out quickly, and the slight remnants crumble, and smells like burned hair.
I don’t know who’s saying it’s synthetic, but most TOTS Myers masks use camel hair. There are exceptions, such as the H6 and a couple others, but generally most of them use camel hair.
i dont know what it is, but i dont believe its camel hair. when the masks first came out , it WAS, CAMEL, and i could style it pretty decently, HOWEVER the past few years i noticed a change…i cant do anything with it- so now i rehair all tots masks. pic below is early tots with camel.
