i converted a Kirk into an H1 and i’d like to add the mouth hole, but i’m worried it will tear when taking the mask on and off. should i be concerned? is there a special way of doing it that would prevent tearing?
thanks!
It is not a “hole”. Just a slit, maybe an inch long. This should have no negative impact, unless the mask fits very tightly. And even then, just be careful to put the mask on and off gently. You should have no issues.
I cut the slit into my tots kirk, First drew it on w/a pen then cut carefully w/ scissors.
So the slit doesnt tear or run, I cut tiny round holes in the corner of the mouth slit.
So small you dont notice, but this way it isnt a hard cut edge that can tear, so a slight rounding at the corners of the mouth
You start at one corner, you dont finish a straight cut line when you get to the corner of the mouth I turn the scissors in a circle
like your cutting a hole out of the center of a square piece of paper
This is quality advice. Use reference photos so you know where exactly the lips begin and end. The scissor method is great or if you are careful enough you could use a box cutter. It should not be difficult to do but the scissor method gives you a bit more control over the exact cut over a razor
