Did Friday The 13th COPY Halloween

Jason wore the sack only in the 2nd half of pt2 but it(sack)was removed during the end of the climax.

“however, that the Friday the 13th franchise realized the reason Halloween movies were grossing more…”
Sean S. Cunningham got the idea from H1 only, there were no other movies at the time. H2 was made later to cash in on these copycats cashing in on the first film.

A majority of the kills and setting for the first Friday were inspired by the Giallo film classic Bay Of Blood.

What kinda slasher virgin wrote this?
I won’t even read the rest of that.lol

This comparison is inaccurate and at times meaningless.

Sean Cunningham admitted the inspiration for the original Friday the 13th came from Halloween’s success. John Carpenter said Halloween II producers demanded more kills, likely to adapt to the rise of slasher films. There are far more differences in the series than the vague similarity of being a slasher franchise in the 1980s.

There is even a scene in Halloween Part 4, where Michael Myers can be briefly seen stalking Dr Loomis, wearing a Jason hockey mask!

Uh… no.

who the f**k wrote this crap? probably a 12 year boy who knows nothing about horror.

Probably yes. But so many other slasher films also. Halloween broke it out but psycho was probably the first true slasher film imo.

Wow. Jason wore the sack in first two films?? Uh, no. Michael wearing a hockey mask?? Uh, no. Bandages are not a hockey mask nor do they even remotely look like one.

As far as slashers that got the ball rolling: Psycho, Black Christmas and Texas Chainsaw Massacre all came before Halloween.

I gave up reading that crap when I read the part about Michael wearing a hockey mask…you have got to be kidding me. I should of seen it going off the rails early on though when I read that Jason wore a sack for the “first two films”. They didn’t even watch these movies before doing this write up. Absolutely ridiculous.

Watch any documentary on the 1980 movie…both Sean and Victor both admit Halloween as a template and formula.

I didn’t take it too serious.

Yeah you really can’t when you start seeing the holes in it. They really went deep into the subject with that write up, but probably should of at least watched the first few films again in the franchise to refresh their memory a bit.

As Kirk Magnum said though, it’s been noted in several documentaries that Halloween was the film that inspired the first Friday the 13th. However at the end of the day, while it drew inspiration from it, they feel like different worlds which is a good thing.

Halloween has always been of an intimate/stylish type horror, where Friday the 13th always felt more in your face and campy to a degree. Halloween did get a little more in your face once the later sequels came along, like H6, but I enjoy both and love both franchises. So they both work for me in different ways.

I wonder how much it was inspired is my question. I know miller had the treatment before he even met Sean & I wonder if miller had wrote it as he had seen Halloween or basically wrote during the period of other slashers that predated Halloween because there’s a lot of unanswered questions about the Hockey mask usage that will probably be left up to contention because of Alone In The Dark & Friday Part 3

why remove?

It was a stupid thread.

There might be some gaps and holes in the write up, but I don’t think it’s a stupid thread man. It has us talking so it works in that regard. I don’t think it’s stupid man.

so why did you post it if it was stupid lol? actually I’ve seen stupider posts, this one could be interesting

It borrowed heavily from Halloween and A Bay of Blood (Twitch of the Death Nerve)

They’ve already admitted in many interviews that they ripped off Halloween hardcore.

Also he’s probably talking about the weird ass scene in H4 where Michael is wearing like a Captain Kirk Mask and surprises Loomis. Confused the hell out of me for years tbh haha.

I don’t follow you, somebody asked you to remove this thread? or somebody forced you to open it? why do you have to ask for removal?
