Did I get screwed?

So I ordered a White Satin from Dela Torre coming up on almost a year ago (about 11 months.) I haven’t gotten so much as a single reply from him in the past 4 months… No updates, no word on the mask, nothing. Which is weird because I have done business with him before and everything was fine. Has anyone ever ordered from him and been completely forgotten about? I’m not sure what I can do, seeing as how I can’t get a response from him.

There was a thread in the forums a couple weeks ago about people having the exact problem as you. Seems like he fell off the face of the earth

that’s a long time hopefully you can a get response soon good luck friend

That’s BS outright!! It’s time we stop making excuses for artists poor business skills!! If something realistically is gonna take 2 months + don’t say 2-3 weeks. Don’t say 6-8 weeks and it take 7 months. That’s the problem not enough Honestly here.

Such great talent but crappy business skills. I know it’s usually one person doing it. But then take 5 orders at a time .

I think he is dealing with family things. Not 100% though

Yea most of these artist actually lack business skills but lucky for them this business seems like you can take up to 10 years before sending the mask and paying upfront i never heard of that in any other business welcome to Mask Business

I’ve always thought the same thing. People pay a lot of money upfront for a mask that they sometimes have to wait years to get. I just don’t understand it.

Funny how a great mask takes several months to get and the original probably took a few hours and it was done.

No mask should ever take that long to deliver. There’s no excuse for that. The family issues excuse is a classic. lol

Assuming you paid via PayPal and just want your money back. Call them and explain what’s going on. You can probably get it back.

Paypal has a 180 day dispute policy I believe.

Indeed, have had the same issue before. I don’t mind to wait but unrealistic time frames are pretty ridiculous. Kept getting dates promised then when the date would arise I would message about it only to be told they forgot. Which is fine, then another date was given which also done the same way.

I am cool if life gets in the way but at least reach out let someone know, don’t just assume you can tell them at your convenience when they’re awaiting your services. You should never have to keep on contacting them, they should contact you when the date is aproaching/ about to be missed ect. Unprofessional for sure.

Yes. But a phone call to them goes a long way.

This is one reason why I stopped buying Myers masks. I understand artists get bogged down but everytime i ordered a mask from anyone i just got the same old story. I get tired of having to ask about a mask that i paid hundreds of dollars for over and over after months and months of waiting. Just gets old.

Everyone just except these long waits and “interruptions “. And artists get away with it because in a way they are the only ones that can deliver what us fans want. But if some talent artists and mask makers popped up and delivered on or before said delivery date, other artists may pick up their game. I not talking about how long it takes to finish, just be honest. If you not gonna even attempt to start 2 months from payment don’t give s delivery day of 1 month. And it’s always “ just got going, should be done next week”. And what happens when that week goes by and nothing?! That’s utter BS!! Be responsible and honest and report back that your not done.

Some people don’t mind the wait. I got my H1SM in 2 months. I think other people give shorter wait times so they will get orders. Heck you may scare off customers if you really tell them how long it will takr

I don’t care if it would take 2 years or 3 weeks, communication goes a long way. Hate them making the commitment then breaking it several times over,at some point you begin to question the whole transaction. They are the ones who set the deadline most of the time, so it does become irritating when you ask them about the date that they missed, when they set in the first place. If they have your money they should be the ones inquiring you and letting you know about a delay, or what have you.

There are some artists out there who have amazing communication, and those are the ones who deserve the business they get. Have only had 2 situations that went a bit crappy, one of which I did receive a beautiful mask the other I didn’t receive a mask at all.

Comes with the hobby I have slowly learned, am thankful I haven’t had any that were too awful in hindsight, have read so many horror stories on here I hate to see so many people have been ripped off. This place is your friend, research the artist well.

Hope your situation turns around man. I always try to be understanding as family is priority and these guys often have careers unrelated to the hobby also. That being said, some of them tend to get over there heads and take more orders than they should.

Yeah I’ve bought a mask knowing it was gonna be at least 6 months and it turned into a year. That was not fun. Expecting long wait times is one thing. Getting a time quote and constantly not meeting the quote is another. When money has been given and probably spent already, then it’s time to get workin and deliver the product. You pay for a car once it’s fixed not befor, so If worker wants the money they work faster etc so they can get customer car back and get paid

Sorry to hear this. It’s always such a let down when this happens with a reputable artist. I hope everything works out for you, best of luck!

I share your understanding and was surprised not to hear anything more about it. The rule may have changed but I havent heard about it if it has.
