What are the differences between the two? I think the 4 stamp is incredible but owning one is pretty much impossible. The nmm78returns on the other hand can still be made. Is the name of the mask the only thing similar or are they close with subtle differences?
as far as I know, the 4 stamps were ‘prototypes’ for Justins Friends.
Then he offered the mask for sale to the general public. every time the nmm78 mould became unusable, he would make a new mould and remove one of the stamps.
he did tell me they are all from the same sculpt, but I imagine it lost detail, the more he remade?
as for the nmm78r, that was from a different company. dont know much about that one.
Not to directly oppose another person’s info, but my understanding is that 4 stamps are from an entirely different mold. There are details on the 4 stamp that are not present on other Nightmareman 78s, especially very prominent lines on the neck
The next run which was a different mold didn’t have 4 stamps because Billy wanted his name removed.
The NM78 R is the final run of NM78 from Justin. Theres actually two versions. The later batch came with a skull stamp. People often mistaken this for a one stamper.
You’re talking about the CGP NM78. When Justin sent that batch to Terry, he removed the trademark "dent " on the kirk sculpt to the otherside to tell them apart.
Honestly, I just never have been a fan of that mask at all and I wanted my name off it. I’ve had 2 of them and sold them off…I think Justin has done way better sculpts than it. I think The Creep or The Shat is where it’s at for now.
As far as I know there are four versions of the NMM 78. The early stamped ones, later 1 and no stamp ones, the larger CGP ones, and the returns. The early stamped ones were re-tooled from the cast with lines on the neck added and finer forehead wrinkles. I am not sure, but I think they are 24" masks. The later original run no stamp and 1 stamp ones were 23.5" and didn’t have the re-tooled parts, they were more of a direct copy of Mr. Kirkus’ Kirk; I have one of these. The CGP ones were larger than the Psychos at 24.5-25". The Returns have less detail than the other Nightowl NMM78 runs, don’t have the retooled parts on the early stamped versions, and are Psycho sized.
Been lookin at some pics of the returns and I notice the eye cuts can make or break the mask for me anyway. Not sure if they’re molded in or if people try to adjust them but some just look off. Then again there’s some that look really great.
Darkness is correct. Everything after the 1st run is closer to the mother mold casted from the Kirkus 75. It’s a much more cleaned up version meaning the imperfections from the actual kirk were removed unlike the 4 stamper which went through a heavy retool.
Not sure how many 4 stampers exist after hearing that my friend recieved a mask way back from Justin and it was stuffed with 4stamper blanks since he didn’t have any plastic air bubbles
He eventually finished one up for himself and sold/gaveaway the rest.
Unlike the mid-era Nm78s, the Returns was a tad larger but not as huge like the CGP ones.
2008 was a big time for Nightowl and Justin was making the Returns and the Psycho at the same time so he was packed. He made alot of copies that year and I assume he kept usuing the same production mold which is why copies tend to vary alot.
_After owning a couple other NM78s, I can’t put my finger on it but there is definitely a different look to the 4 Stamps that I personally love. Mainly it’s the blankness.
