I’ll just start with this classic photo of all three H1 masks at the wrap party and what we know (or think we know) about them.
We all know that the hero is on the far right, then (probably) the SY scene mask on the far left, and in the middle is the Stunt Blood Tears.
Semi-recently (last 4 years) this picture of JLC wearing a stunt mask surfaced:
This was quickly matched to the H2 Stunt Blood Tears by Brother K:
Then the mask in the JLC/SBT Pic was apparently matched to the “hallway stunt” mask:
But after combing through everything I had I started to become suspicious of whether or not the hallway B&W mask was actually the same as the JLC/SBT mask.
The first thing that caught my eye were the eyecuts. Look closely at them and you’ll see that they’re totally different. First we’ll compare the proper right eyecut on the hallway mask to the JLC/SBT mask.
Note: The eyecuts have been filled in with black to better show the shape and eliminate pixelation. I’ve also included the not filled in version.
The first difference to take note of is the entire shape. The B&W hallway mask seems to have a much more jagged cut, whereas the JLC/SBT mask is very clean cut. The next difference has to do with the cleanness of the cut. In the B&W hallway shot if you look at the top of the eyecut close to the nose, you notice a little notch where it comes down. You’ll notice on the JLC/SBT mask that it’s not there at all.
Here it is circled in red:
And compared with the JLC/SBT mask:
You’re probably thinking, “but it’s probably just stretched over to the side, altering the shape?”
To that I would say to look a bit closer! The photo from H1 shows the wearer giving it the “castle stretch” NOT stretching it sideways like Warlock. They eyecut is in fact different.
Now onto the proper left eyecut.
Same as above, it’s just completely off. A totally different shape. Also at the top close to the nose again, there’s a little notch taken out in the B&W Hallway mask eyecut that is not present on the JLC/SBT mask.
Now a counter argument to this claim that they are in fact different masks may be "what about the matching hairline where there is a chunk of hair missing, exposing the flesh colored scalp? And to that I would say 3 things.
- This would be from the removal of the sideburns.
- This detail is present on both of the stunt masks, as seen in the wrap party pics.
Look closely here. You can see that both stunt masks are missing that same chunk from that same area.
- They are different size’s/angles.
When you look at the chunk missing in the B&W hallway picture and compare it to the missing section on the JLC/SBT mask you can see that they’re actually different in size and angle. The B&W Hallway mask’s missing chunk seems to be have a smaller area missing, more of an obtuse triangle shape. When you look at the JLC/SBT mask you see that it’s more of a right triangle shape.
By now anyone reading is probably wondering why I care if they’re the same or different. Because if they are different, that means we have a close photo of all 3 masks!
I’d love to hear any other thoughts on this. Just thought it was interesting and would want to share it . Maybe I’m just looking too deep into it but I really don’t think they’re one in the same anymore.
Thanks for reading, guys!
Updates: One of my posts from another page:
Face reveal mask=the hallway mask=Left (or middle, read below) Wrap Party mask=SNL mask
So I’ll break down why I think the above.
1. The face reveal mask=Hallway mask.
Evidence #1: In the hallway photo, if you look at the top corner of the proper left eyecut and follow from the outer to inner eye, you see at right after the halfway point it slopes dramatically upwards but then comes back down to the end of the eyecut. Do the same in the face reveal scene and it is there.
Evidence #2: As you pointed out, the face reveal mask has 3 black dots on the face, one of which is to the proper left of the nose. The hallway mask shares one of those same marks, to the left of the nose.
2. Hallway mask/Face Reveal Mask=SNL mask (all shots on SNL are the same mask)
So this one is obvious, the hallway mask is seen in the shot of JLC by the chain link fence. But the mistake most people make is thinking that the mask in the bed with Jamie is the hero, when really it’s the same stunt mask as seen in the hallway/face reveal shots. The primary way that you can tell this is the lack of needle hole on the neck.
Primary Evidence:
and also, updating the main thread with this photo from Flamin Tramer:
We see two masks here. The Stunt Blood Tears from H2 on the left, the hallway reveal mask on the right.
We have definitively matched the left mask to the one Jamie wears in her photoshoot:
We have definitely matched the right mask to the hallway BTS shot:
So the age old debate that won’t die is are these two masks the same?:
When comparing their features they simply can’t be, which brings us back to “Flamin Tramers” photo. Look at the sideburns, the glue lines are different shapes and distances from the ears and eyes, a feature that would not change if they were the same!
