YES
To me, the mild gore in the original movies is what made Halloween great. In my opinion, the more gore they add, the less mysterious it is. Jaws, for example, had a few scenes of gore, but the initial seen where the woman is pulled under is a masterpiece. There was no blood or anything. They left everything up to your imagination.
In today’s horror movies, they pile on the blood and gore just to shock people. But this is what movies like Saw are for. If all you want to see is pointless and ridiculous gore, go see Saw. The first Halloween specifically had a certain depth to it. It wasn’t your average horror movie.
Another reason I probably feel the original Halloween movies are better is because of the time they were made. The early movies give off a certain traditional 80’s movie atmosphere. The later ones add more gore and take away that ‘magical’ feeling.
The first Halloween and Halloween 4 have to be my favorites. H20 comes in third.
People that like H1 and H2 should like zombies movies…Michael is just a serial killer if you just see the first movies. It is the other H movies that make myers something that cant be explained.
I thought the first one was very well done and just right for this point in time. The second movie really was absolutely in the wrong direction of what Halloween and myers is all about. That’s what ruined it for me. I think they should have left H1 and thats it. Because Rob did a great job on the first film with all the elements there.
Totally agreed but the mask is wicked
I couldn’t disagree more.
First of all, in the remake, he is not “just a serial killer”. Rob plays with the sister storyline from the get-go. Carpenter’s, yes, he was simply an “unstoppable force”, killer. The original Halloween is not about Michael Myers. It is about the babysitter being stalked by the boogeyman on Halloween. Whereas Rob’s is more like a movie about Michael. Why else would we need a full hour explaining Michael’s past?
You can’t ruin the Halloween series… If it survived 3,5,6, and 8 It’s UNSTOPPABLE!
But I feel like people are too obsessive over The Shape that they go nuts if he wears the wrong coveralls
When you’re making a remake there always will be people that say “OMG HE RUINED IT” because he wore a hoody or he has a beard… like for real? a beard nah seriously after watching any of the sequels after H4 how could people possibly get pissed about a beard?
The one thing however I don’t like about the remakes is He’s no longer the mysterious Shape now he’s just running around beating people to death
Well I think Rod Zombies Halloween 2 was possibly the worst entry in the series and that’s saying something. I wasn’t a big fan of his first attempt but it now looks like a classic compared to the sequel.

Well…One hour to explaining michaels past is a way to make him “human”. When i watch a movie about a serial killer i want to know why that person became a killer. Sure the movies are different but i think that H1 and H2 in both carpenters and robs versions are movies about a serial killer. It is the movies after H2 that shows that he is an “unstoppable force” not just telling us that he is an “unstoppable force”
i felt that he did!!!
He gets shot six times in the original. How is that not an unstoppable force?
Carpenter’s intention was that his motives were unexplained. That’s the point. Not to know for sure.
Saw Zombies Halloween II recently.
Didn’t think it could be anyworse than his first attempt but it actually was.
Two absolutely massive turds, both films are just typical Zombie white trash films. I’m really sorry he managed to get his grubby paws on the franchise and drag the Halloween name through the mud.
What would this talentless prick do if he couldn’t hold your attention with tits and swearing every couple of minutes?
Yeah, how dare Zombie use nudity in his films! doesn’t mention the fact that Carpenter’s film had two shots of breasts in it
way to the miss the point Forrest
No, Zombie relys on it. That’s the point.
Bingo.
The frequency with which it is used in Zombies films is a testament to his inability to keep the audiences attention another way, eg, with good storytelling.

I see your point but i still think that the other H-movies in the series shows that he is an unstoppable force. And i think it is nice to see how michael became a serial killer. Zombie did his version like some fans does their versions. Cant say that he ruined the halloween series. I think that zombies movies are better then ressurection and H4.
