Does the mask in H4 ruin the movie for anybody else?

I was 7 years old when the movie came out and I remember renting the vhs tape and while watching it I was thinking they might have put the wrong tape in the case. I was so desapointed when I saw Michael.

When I first joined, and knew nothing of the history of the masks, I didn’t care for the H4 mask. I found it clownish and was disappointed they didn’t use the mask on the poster. After I began learning the history of the masks, and that the H4 poster mask is the H1/H2 Hero drawn from a pic taken during H2, I began learning to appreciate the H4 mask more and more.

To me, Halloween 4 has always been one of the best in the series, but with the worst Michael. The combination of how bad the mask looks in certain shots, the awkward shoulder pads that make Michael look like a mannequin when he’s standing still, even the way he moves when he’s in pain…it’s always just been eye-rolling to me. The Mask almost looks like a bad Michael Jackson costume in some shots. If George P Wilbur looked and moved the way he did in Halloween 6, the movie would have been much scarier because it would have been intimidating Michael. To answer your question, Halloween 4 is still a great film, but yes a terrible Michael definitely makes it less scary and a little silly.

Nope. Not at all. I love the H4 mask. It has lineage to the 1975 Kirk mask and in certain scenes you can tell. The scene when he grabs Brady by the throat you can see the Castle stretch/pucker. I think if it didn’t have sideburns…it would look identical to the 1978 mask. Also, George P Wilbur had a different head size/shape than Castle and Warlock which gave the mask a distorted look in some scenes.

BWAHAHA, yeah he’d make a great linebacker lol

I always had issues with all the other movies mask except 1 and 2 and that was before I knew anything about this hobby. I had issues with part 2 also because Myers outfit and walk looked different than 1. Funny, some people take slouchy pics with their H1 outfit

I think it’s the paint job. The white is too flat and un weathered, and they painted the eyebrows brown for some reason. The mask loses a lot of detail that is in the actual kirk-like sculpt. If it was painted white and then they dirtied it up a little I think it would look almost as good as the H1.

I enjoy the H4 mask quite a bit. I thought it was silly at first too, but I’ve come to enjoy it quite a lot for some reason.

This is the only scene where the mask looks silly…

I remember thinking as a kid that the mask was still really scary, but I could tell it didn’t look as good as the others. It’s greatly grown on me over the years.
