Halloween II debuted at Number 3 on the DVD Rentals chart in America. Compared to Halloween 2007 which only debuted at number 7 and Halloween resurrection which was number 11.
(THE HURT LOCKER is 1 and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS is 2.)
And Halloween II is Number 5 on the DVD Sales chart in America.
(Behind THE HURT LOCKER, THE HANGOVER, I CAN DO BAD ALL BY MYSELF and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS.)
THE FINAL DESTINATION was Number 3 in Sales, but lower than H2 at number 6 in Rentals when it was released on dvd the previous week.
This is a great sign for the series.
Perhaps this will encourage HALLOWEEN 3 to start production sometime later this year…hopefully even moving studio. Fingers crossed Scout, Tyler and Brad will return, maybe even Margot Kidder could inherit the “Loomis” type role.
anyone who says RZ H2 “was a complete failure” is only saying that because they didnt like the movie and wish that to be true. over all, said and done the movie didnt do that damn bad! with everything considered, it did alot better than 50% of theatrical releases. indicating its far from failure.
and technically the dvd/blue ray sales and rentals aren’t done yet
Thats cool you guys are true fans, I haven’t bought a copy yet…mostly because I’m unsure If I want the DC or the theatrical. I like certain aspects about the DC a lot better but for some reason I like the theatrical ending better. I hate that Laurie looks like a bobble head with the mask on but I hate the fake motions while Tyler is getting shot up even more
I like Spookykooky’s mash up he made though
Thanks Seph. I’ve bought both versions too plus I’ve two copies of the TC. One unopened in case the TC ever goes out of print. I made the mash up of both versions for fans who couldn’t decide which one to get. This way they have the best of both in one. As I’m typing this I’m uploading version number two of the mash up. This version is also the Directors Cut with the TC scenes restored as well but with the Directors cut ending. I also made Laurie a little less aggressive in this one as well by cutting out her initial attack on Annie at the breakfast table (Just like the TC version it cuts after she says “One day at a time”) and I also restored the scene into the movie where Laurie wakes up from a nightmare and imitates Buddy’s voice saying “Don’t worry Laurie, that Cocksucker Michael Myers is dead. He can’t get you…” etc. This sequence I put after she wakes up from the black and white “Halloween banquet” nightmare. I also included the “Halloween” theme as Laurie approaches Buddy’s shack outside the hospital and some alternate versions of Carpenters themes. The DC ending doesn’t have “Love hurts”… Instead I chose “The Host of Seraphim” from the group Dead can Dance. This song was also used during the finale of “The Mist” and I think it’s suitable sad and Haunting. This then mixes seamlessly into Lauries Theme in the white room ending. As soon as I have it uploaded I will post the link.
To put that in comparison, Michael Jackson’s This Is It DVD sold over $17 million USD on the first day of release in Japan. It’s sold approx 780,000 in it’s first week. US sales haven’t been reported yet.
