end game of myers masks?

Ok so I remember back in the day the sandman and the ul75 being the top masks. We have obviously come a very very long way, when does it end? have we peaked in the h1 hero mask or are we still growing and have yet to “arrive”?
thoughts?

Yeah, replica masks have come a long way, but I don’t think it’s gonna end. At least I don’t want it to. There’s just too many dudes out there that are into buying, trading, selling, collecting, and nowadays…discussing and sharing pics with other people on a computer…like myself. It’s all part of the hobby, and that’s what makes it fun. I’m sure not just for me, but for everyone else as well. Some people may think we’ve peaked, and that you can’t get any better than a JC Shat H1/H2 or a JC 75K H1/H2, but so as long as there’s a Justin, a Nik, a JC, or a Benny out there, either now or in the future, I don’t think replica masks will ever peak. There’s just so many different variations and opinions out there as to what people see as their “Checkmate mask”. I think it’s endless and that’s ok with me.

I think we peaked a while back with the DB2 and then the 75K as far as H1 goes. But none of the others has peaked yet imo.

I think as far as molds go there may be a peak right now especially with the MMK and Shat/Creep out now for H1 and H2 masks; I think a perfect mold for each mask in the series probably exists right now, but finishing is a different story and incredibly varied, and it has a lot to do with personal tastes and not really having high resolution images of the masks after each touch-up at the time the films were made that were shot in 360 degrees in the four cardinal and four ordinal directions in perfect light, so everything is an estimation.

I agree 100%, Steven! I Look at it like this… if I had a perfect 1975 DP Kirk blank from the same mold as the Hero, there is no way that I could convert it to completely nail the on screen look! And even if I could, there is no way that I could light it and photograph it so that everyone else would agree that it was dead on to the Hero mask. We as Myers fans want the most accurate thing out there, and most of us will never be completely satisfied. Sure, there are people who say that they have found their “grail” and will never need another Myers… only to eat their words a few months down the road when the next best thing comes around! I know about this… because I’m as guilty as anyone can be! For me, finding the perfect Myers is about as likely as finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow… but it sure is a fun filled quest, bound to keep a lot of us busy for years to come!

Great post “1984” :drinkers:

My honest opinion,i hope not,i hope we can eventually get a mask where when most wear it including myself we can say wow that is bang on to the Hero in every way and we are unable to tell them apart, the Hero was worn by many different persons in H1 but yet we could still tell it was the Hero,as of yet i haven’t seen a mask particularly H1 where i could not tell the difference between that and the Hero movie mask,we do have some amazing masks out there to choose from but i hope we can get 100% accuracy eventually.

I agree, there will never be a end… Not for me anyway… In order to duplicate the Hero to a science, there is not enough information and never will be… Artists have the micrometer eyes to get eye cuts within a few thousandths of an inch etc, but in order to match up to every single scene you would need to know every variable down to the paint that was used and what areas of the mask were thin or in 81, brittle and cracked, just to achieve the look it portrayed in all the scenes… Let alone having the right exact head to display it on. I have wondered about making heads to match Castle and Warlock right down to the exact size there heads were, there hair, etc… It just can’t be done. Not enough information. I however love seeing new perspectives, whether it be sculpts, finishing, etc… We will never find the end to outer space but we will keep going there… As long as we have the artists that we have today constantly striving to perfect these replica’s and the enthusiasm from the artists and collectors, there will never be an end and it will be a lot of fun along the way trying…

I Agree, Its been 35 years and if anything we are picking up the pace. More fans and sculpts are in a constant flow it seems. And I for 1 know of something very special coming up this year of 2013
