I got a great deal on a NAG nightmare that had been finished as a Ben Tramer mask . I want to refinish it as an H1. I think the NAG sculpt is incredible and I have recently refinished a TOTS Tramer that I am really happy with. However the eye cuts on this mask look like they could be a bit off. As is they may be a bit large. Does anyone have any experience trying to patch and recur eye holes? Is that even a feasible idea?
Honestly, I would leave the Tramer alone if I were you. Do yourself a favor and just get a blank to work on.
If I understand correctly I would spend a lot more on a blank than I did on this piece. I am wondering about maybe just reshaping them a little and hoping for the best, or possibly leaving them alone depending on how it looks in hand.
The hair and the paint I am comfortable with. I wasn’t thinking about the eyes when I bought it. I was thinking it could be an easy fun conversion like I did with my TOTS Tramer. I am new to this and looking for more experience. You think anyone would want to trade a finished NAG Tramer for a cool blank of similar value?
I agree. I was actually watching this one myself, but never pulled the trigger. You got a pretty decent Tramer for about the price of a cheap one, so I would leave it alone personally. Tramer eye cuts are different, so if you try to alter these, you may not be satisfied with the outcome. You could even embrace the fact that its a Tramer, and have it overhauled or even just re-haired with some lighter hair to look more accurate. Just my thoughts. Cool mask though!
Sure it is
Benny7Hartke taught me how to patch eyecuts.
You need to get some RD-407 latex as that’s what your mask was made with.
There is several ways to do this. You need the following materials.
- Clear packing tape
- Neosporin (it simply just evaporates instead of running like Vaseline.)
- Napntha. Ace hardware or home depot.
- A fine paintbrush that is squared on the end.
- Sharp straight cuticle scissors.
Put the packing tape on the inside of the eye covering the area you want to apply latex to. Make sure that the tape is not just on the eye but well into the forehead as well.
Rub a thin layer of Neosporin on the exposed tape that you see through the eyehole. I would do this with a different paintbrush.
Apply watered down latex onto the exposed tape in a very thin layer. If you do this right you should have about 3 applications of it when you’re done.
Don’t worry about going over on the tape where you want the finished cut to be, as your going to cut this anyway.
The important thing is that these layers are very thin. If you gob it on too much, you will get bumps.
Blow dry on a low setting every layer. Remember you have Neosporin behind this which you don’t want to dry out.
You need to match the start of the mask and the start of your repair seamlessly. This is easier said than done, and the cool part is you can do this over and over if you don’t get it right, providing you don’t cover the final coat.
Most of the attachment from mask to repair is done on the inside anyway. You do this when your finally satisfied with your repaired eye.
It’s the paint match which is the bitch of the bunch here, as your desired result would be not to paint the whole mask over.
When you’ve got the mask and repair thickness the same, you’re safe to peel the tape off. I wouldn’t turn the mask inside out yet. You can peel it off from the inside.
Let it dry a day. The latex needs time to cure. Then turn it inside out and cover your repair and 1-2 inches around the affected parts of the eye.
I hope this helps ya buddy! Let us see how it turns out.
Now that sounds like a f#$!ing project! That’s exactly what I was looking for! You ever try this before?
I did it on a Colin Mayne 75K and countless tots H2’s.
I’ve seen your work and you’re very talented. If this is the sort of thing you’d be interested in, I’d love to get a quote from you on a conversion.
Those are what Tramer eye cuts are supposed to look like but you could patch them but I would go with a blank personally. Good luck with your project man!!

I bought this because I believe the nag nightmare to be one of the better H1 masks out there and I got this at an incredible price, so it’d be worth the work to me to try. I want to patch the eyes, give it a repaint and rehair. Last year I bought the TOTS H2 because I’ve always wanted a great Myers mask. It was great but it wasn’t perfect, so I bought and converted a TOTS Tramer (my profile pic) which is even closer. But again not perfect, a NAG when properly converted is about as close as I’ve seen to perfect. So because I got this one on the cheap it wouldn’t bother me to put a little money and effort into it to make it PERFECT.
The search for perfection can be a long, and very expensive road. Good luck with the project if you decide to do the work on this one! I look forward to seeing the outcome!
I’ve spent money on this at this point. It’s happening for sure. Do you think you could tape down wax paper and have it work as well? And what’s the naptha for?
Well, wax paper won’t adhere to the inside of the mask. The Napntha is to smooth everything out. To make it one piece so to speak. A word of caution though, it will eat latex, which is exactly the point. The countermeasure is rubbing alcohol appied shortly thereafter to minimize the effects of the Napntha.
MASK SHIPPED TODAY! So in roughly two weeks I’ll take it out of the box to snap a few pics and then it’ll go right back in the mail to Uwannadon’s expert hands for a full conversion in an H1! Any moderators wanna private message me? I’d like to maybe sell a few things here to help pay for the conversion. What’s a good price for a converted TOTS tramer?
You are too kind buddy
Let’s get those eyes where you want em.
If I was guaranteed a nice copy, like this, I’d hurry and buy one! Sweet! I would so convert that baby! Flesh tones, the works!!! Cue: “Halloween Theme”!
