Just curious to see how many of you like your eyes being slit on the corners of your H1 mask? Just wondering what your opinions are about this?

I only like it for accuracy…it awesome also because that a small detail thing

Thanks for the comment bro. I know H2 masks are slit, but not sure if the H1 masks were? So I just wanted to see what everyones opinions were on this - or how they like thier H1 mask. Does anyone have any pics of masks that have been slit?

I like mine with the black line, that gives it that appearance.

I dont care for it especially if you plan on wearing it.Its just another spot for a tear to happen.

Yes that’s a very good point.

use a hole punch  i am only kidding

Yes Sir I’ll have another :drinkers:

I said yes because thats the way to cookie crumbles!

It’s all about accuracy.
As far as the eyes in H1, I don’t know if they were slit. I DO know from simply watching H2, and the fact that I saw and held the HERO myself, that the eyes WERE slit in the corners.

First off, I think this is a great question, but for me this is something I leave up to the artist. I have JC convert my masks and since he has studied countless screen caps I feel safe he’ll make it look as close as possible to the real deal, I trust his eye and he’s done 2, soon to be 4 masks.

I’m not a fan of the slit, just the eye crease in the Kirk eye sculpt is enough for me. I like seeing it darkened and weathered, but not slit.
Do we know if it was cut, or if it simply tore after the countless times it was being worn, or over the years, the latex began to rot in that area?

I still say no, Nick Castle’s face is long and it stretched the mask vertically, one of the areas it would have put stress on is the corner of the eyes making them easier to see. Logic tells me that since Dick’s face/head is wider and stretched the mask horazontally it would have made the slits harder to see, closing the slits somewhat, so if you can see it in H2 and not H1 that tells me they were most likely not there.

Look closely at the corner of his right eye, you can barley see what looks like a tear starting to form, its darker than the rest of the crease.

I don’t like actual slits but I do prefer the markings that look to be slits (simply because I’m not it really had the slits).

Slit, baby, slit…

The reason I don’t like the slits is b/c I would be worried about it tearing even more over time from wearing it. If It was just a display piece I wouldn’t mind it being like that. Thanks for all the comments everyone

This would be the proverbial gospel truth, for H2 anyway.

NO slits on H1 :yawinkle:

i quote your post storm because it goes in line with my questions. i got a second stab, and anyone who has ever owned one of these masks knows that they were made small. the eye corners on the stab are slit but when wearing it, even on my 23 1/2" head, it doesnt open the slits what so ever. and the H78 is made at least an 1" around or more bigger, so the slits obviously dont open nor can be seen on a mask that size. i slit the eyes on my 99 shat i converted and that thing is skin tigh! still no effect or pull on those little slits.
so my questions:
how small of a mask would you be ‘trying’ to put on that would rip from the corner eyeslits?
secondly, has anyone here ever seen a costume pic from a member and noticed the small eye slits gapping open from the worn pic?

so my point is, it really doesnt matter if they are slit or not. because you cant notice it, wheather the mask is on display or while being worn.
anyone can post their random mask and not a damn person will be able to tell if the eye corners are slit, wheather its a worn or displayed pic.

True…
This is why I think the original was slit.
My SS is slit as well.
I think in the hero’s case it was the thiness of the mask, that made it noticeable…
The Stabs and the H-78’s are thicker than the original.
Just my opinion…
See Ya,

Hey thanks man, I feel alot better about wearing my mask now and not worrying so much. I plan on doing alot of costume shots with it soon, so we’ll see if you can notice the eyes on it  I guess with the eyes being slit like that you can probably pull off alot of H2 looks with it too.

Good point about what J said about the Hero being so thin and making it more noticable.
