Favorite Dr. Loomis Scene

Hi Everyone i’m new to this forum and I just wanted to know what everyone’s favorite scene of Dr. Loomis was. I have seen a lot of threads that always have the usual “What’s your favorite Halloween film, actor, or kill.” so i thought i’d make a topic that hasn’t been really talked about before.

Now, My favorite scene is from Halloween 5 where after Jamie has her epileptic attack from her connection with Michael, Sheriff Meeker gets frustrated and says to Loomis “Every time a little girl twitches I’m supposed to call the national guard.” Loomis then reminds him of Michael’s mayhem last year including the death of his daughter, Meeker gets pissed but Loomis then tries to explain to him saying this “No of course you don’t forget. how could you? You never looked into his face, did you? You never saw his eyes. You never saw that-that nothing, no expression, blank. My memory goes back twelve years to the night i offered…I’m gonna show you- show you something [He then takes his glove off and shows Meeker his severely burned hand he received trying to kill Michael in Halloween II] Look, look at this, look at that. I prayed that evil would burn in hell, but in my heart I knew that Hell would not have him.”

It really shows that no matter what it takes, Loomis will not stop hunting Michael until he is erased from existence. Donald Pleasance was 69 when this came out and he still does an excellent job portraying the good doctor. The flustered, devoted, intense look he gives to Meeker while showing him his hand is so brilliant it made Meeker quiet and terrified with guilt. Michael is a force of a nature and so evil that even the devil himself wouldn’t accept him and he needs to be vanquished, Loomis doesn’t care if the obstacles trying to do it is dangerous and consequential he will make sure that Michael needs to die for good is what he is trying to imply. He literally begs Meeker to trust him looking back at how Sheriff Brackett failed to realize how much of a threat he was to humanity. The good doctor will take that risk in sacrificing his own life away to make sure no more bloodshed is on his hands and for the good citizens of Haddonfield to view him as their savior so that he gets them to know he was right all along.

I know man, I love that line! Honestly, Dr Loomis is one of my favorite characters by far, and he has SO many amazing lines and scenes in each movie that there is no way I could possibly pick just one as my favorite. I will say this though, my favorite performance by Donald pleasence as Loomis was in H1, mainly because that’s before he got all loony ha ha, but I still loved his performance in each sequel. I do believe it’s true that he is the glue of this series, and is often the only redeeming quality in some of the lessor sequels.

“I met him 15 years ago, I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no uh… conscience no understanding or even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this… 6 year old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face and-… the blackest eyes. The devils eyes. I spent 8 years trying to reach him, and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boys eyes was purely and simply… Evil”

"Dr. Samuel Loomis: [encounters the Shape in gas station] Michael? Why now? You’ve waited ten years. Why come back now? I knew this day would come. Don’t go to Haddonfield. If you want another victim, take me. But leave those people in peace. Please, Michael?
[pause]
Dr. Samuel Loomis: Goddamn you.

“Dr. Hoffman: Now where are you going?
Dr. Samuel Loomis: Haddonfield. It’s a four hour drive. You can reach me through the local police. If you don’t find him in four hours, I’m sure I will.

''Hey Lonnie, get your ass away from there…”

I love alot of Dr.loomis scenes. Too many too list!

Take a look at my signature to see one of my favorite Loomis lines!

I seen that! :drinkers:

That gas station scene is phenomenal, so eerie and moving especially when we see The POV of Michael standing in the kitchen with the medical tape around his head. Also gotta love that Lonnie line he litterally made the kids get out of dodge like little mice hahahaha

Malcolm McDowell’s loomis can also be included if need be.

Great choices y’all!
A couple others:
Halloween II - “You don’t know what death is!”
Halloween 4 - The whole scene with Reverend Jackson

“You don’t know what death is!” Is one of my favorites also. I love the way he just books it out of the yard immediately afterwards

Lol me too! The music kicking in just makes that opening scene so great

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzy-1j8vLDk extra tv cut scene from halloween, pretty underrated, but they way loomis is so desperate in this scene has always been a favorite

Mines this one, it gave me chills to hear Loomis say this part.

Not even really a line too be honest, but when he is looking over the bannister on the house after shooting him. He looks down and then just kind of has a moment of “yes this dude is gone, I knew this was going to happen” face. One of my favorite scenes because what would he even say at that point had he spoken? Haha.

When he cracks a smile … that is one of my favorites

H1 and H4 had the best Loomis scenes. Love all of the boogeyman talk and lore building scenes like the famous blackest eyes speech, love gas station scene, the inhumanly patient scene, the one where he lectures Hoffman at the accident site, etc. I think the one that I love most may be the scene with Reverend Sayer in H4 though, where Loomis found a kindred spirit and was actually happy; that one makes me happy.

You know while we’re on the topic of 4, there is another that comes to mind. In the beginning at the gas station, he finds Michael. [Insert Loomis dialoge here], “Please… Michael… [pause] Goddamn you.” He says it subtly then proceeds to shoot him. Just love the vibes in that scene.
