Feasibility of a silicone mask?

Hey all, just wondering if anyone has tried making a silicone Myers mask, and if so , how does it compare to the latex?

It’s too stretchy, and will never look good, someone did it a while back with a really bad sculpt and it did not work well

Shame. My skin is very irritated by latex! I wonder if gluing a thin silicone layer to the inside of a latex mask would ease my suffering!

It probably could, but I wouldn’t risk it, you’d have to make sure it doesn’t rot

There’s no reason it couldn’t work. The issues with it is that it isn’t really cost effective. Casting silicone is quite a bit more involved and expensive than latex. The other reason is that the hero mask wasn’t made that way, and so that also turns people off to the idea of it. There just really isn’t any need to make a Myers mask out of silicone. It’s reserved for more fleshy, tight fitting applications

You could spray the inside of your mask with a clear sealant like plasti dip? You might wanna wait for the fumes to clear but that’d work and it’d protect your mask in theory.

That sounds like a good idea; can’t really think of any downside other than how that would react to my sweat

That was Myth that was debunked years and years ago. The KH Rare was latex.

I think handiboy has a mask that’s made of “permatex” that’s supposed to never rot, not sure if he still offers that or if it has latex in it at all tho

It is still avalible, the main difference is that it has no oils in it that latex has, which causes it to rot

Also, any recommendations on how to stretch a mask?

The tots H40 I just tried my hand at rehauling is incredibly tight, and doesn’t fit my face quite the way I’d like it to. How could I go about stretching the mask to make it fit better by Halloween?

You can’t, if the mask is tight, it will only conform to your natural head shape, you’ll need a bigger mask
