Cut out the eyes, threw down some flesh tones, and went with a layer of white, a bit of weathering, and am working on my 2nd layer of white as we speak…
here’s some progress pictures… tomorrow’s another day.
Here’s an update… unfortunately it seems that this mix I was using with the acrylic just doesn’t do what it’s supposed to and is causing a bit of cracking (nose). so I’m probably going to strip this and start over at some point… I just ordered different paints as well.
Gives you an idea of the look i’m going for, photos are making it look shiny when in person, not so much.
Stripping a brushed on base could take along time! I brushed my 1st blank and was very unhappy with results. I think it took 3-4 days of heavy scrubbing!:(…I’m thinking you added to much acrylic paint to the latex mix…I only put enough in to get the color…No 50/50 here prob 10/90.
I hear ya… I think my problem is this as well. When buying the paint I got talked into using an acrylic flex medium to mix with the acrylic and it just isn’t working.
I figure that with the 2nd blank I have coming I can use that time to clean this blank up.
I think that airbrush i’m picking up off of you will give me a MUCH more even base tone… then I can use the brush/sponge for the detail.
Acrylic flex medium? I think everyone uses liquid latex mixed with small amount of acrylic paint or latex house paint, The airbrush will not only go on even but very thin retaining all detail!
