ok, so in h1 1978 they used spraypaint on the hero and homecome it didnt all come off if it was flakey, like when lorie pulls the hero off in the ending it doesnt crack ? and there is a picture with the new person that owns the hero with dick warlock and when i looked at it the eyecuts were really big ? anybody know what this is about?
thanks
This is because that mask is OLD and it wasn’t properly taken care of. It’s in very poor condition.
Well first of all the mask pulled off of Tony Moran at the end of Halloween was not the Hero. It was a stunt mask. The eyes look different in the picture of Dick and the owner because the mask is 30+ years old and is rotting very badly. The latex used in the 70’s was not of very good quality and that plays a big role in why it is rotting so badly. It also was not taken care of very well throughout the filming and after shooting was done. No one new it would be as valuable as it is today so it was treadted like any other latex mask would have been treated back in the day.
I’m actually suprised its still intact, most masks treated like that would be a ball of hair.
I’d love to see some new shots of that mask.
Dont quote me on this but I thought I remember hearing that the owner of the HERO got it fully restored. I can’t remember for sure so dont freak out everyone.
Hi everybody
I wrote an email to the new owner of the original Hiro mask 3 days ago. He is the owner of a haunted house park in Toledo. I wrote them it would be nice for us to see how the restored mask would look like nowadays. No answer yet. Hope they 'll write me back with some pics.
I’ll post it as soon as I got pics.

well the op also asked why the mask doesnt crack considering it was spraypainted, instead it seems to more or less fade. i have an answer for this. They used krylon H20 latex based spraypaint that when used in very thin coats does not crack. I know because this is what I use and i get the same results as the hero, after time it tends to just fade instead of crack
