Getting autographs on masks!

Does getting an autograph on a high end mask bring value down or up? Have an nag h78 I wouldn’t mind having castle sign.

Well, I have a cgp fear signed by Nick, and I can tell you I dont regret it for one second. Go for it. Just don’t get it on the forehead.

Your best bet is to have them sign it on the back of the neck or even on the inside of the neck that way it’s a win win.

It’s totally up to you man. I thought about getting my Proto signed by Nick Castle , but passed . I figured I would just get a poster or a pic signed. The thing is by getting it signed , the mask becomes strictly a display piece . If anything , get it signed , high in the neck where you could cover it with the hair . Like a hidden gem , if that makes sense .

If you’re fine with it as a display piece, go for it.
Just don’t expect to sell it for a high price in the 2nd hand market.(They usually don’t go as high compared to other memorabilia such as posters)

Getting signatures on the inside of the neck is where you would want to get them. And IMO signatures will only make the value of a high end mask go up in value. Lets say that you had a 75K finished by James without anyone’s signatures in it. That mask would obviously be worth what someone was willing to pay for it. But in all seriousness… it would be worth about $500. $250 for the blank from Nik and another $250 for Jame’s work. That same mask with signatures from let’s say PJ Soles, Nick Castle and John Carpenter in it would be worth at least $100 more if not more. Especially when these people start passing away. Those sigs are going to be worth a lot of money. Especially if you have provenance like a picture or video to prove that the sigs are real. If you’re able to obtain sigs from the actors in Halloween… GET THEM!

Another way to look at it. Which would be worth more? A baseball from a Yankees game in 1952 or a baseball from a Yankees game in 1952 with Mickey Mantle’s signature on it?

I wouldn’t do it.

I think it’s really stupid how on eBay people sell those 20 dollar myers masks that are autographed. And the autograph will be across the forehead or cheek. It’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t accept a free one.

You’re comparing Micky mantle to a no name actor.
As much as I like Michael Myers, there are no actors from the movies whose autograph is worth money.

Never understood the draw of people getting autographs on masks. If you plan on wearing it, it just looks foolish. If it’s for display only, sure go for it. I’d personally get the inside signed if you really want them to sign a mask or just get a poster signed. As for the value, many people go to conventions just to get signatures and they aren’t that rare to find so while it may add a bit to the value of your mask, if it’s done externally there are a lot of customers who will look passed your mask if they actually are looking for a mask to wear.
